I'm not talking about trusting drunks or alcoholics either. But people who don't drink alcohol because they believe it makes them lack moral fiber or they really believe it can kill you or poison your body. I don't trust them, I find them shifty and generally dishonest. What does the hive think?

I can deal with that over someone who doesn't fuckin cuss every now and then. Never trusted a man that doesn't curse.
|
|
It's not that I wouldn't trust them but I just wouldn't hang out with them because they would be annoying as hell to me as I drank my poison.
|
|
It depends. Some people cant control themselves with alcohol so they remove it completely from their lives.

Hell, bitches, I don't drink.
Not a moral thing; shit, both my brothers, both sisters-in-law, and my wife drink. I just find, for me, it's the simplest place to draw the line, and it gives me one less thing to worry about. "Is this too much? Am I ok to drive home?" Fuck that. I'm GTG. Plus it's not a good idea to be loaded if I'm carrying –– and I'm always carrying. And I don't cuss either. |

I love drinking. I love social drinking. I love bars. I love drinking games. I love sharing a bottle of red wine with my gf. I love a cold beer after a hard mountain bike ride.
Unfortunately, I also have a tendency to drink a couple of pints (yes, two to three PINTS) of vodka by myself, and get blackout. I tried to balance it out, just drink socially etc. Couldn't. I am an alcoholic, and have finally admitted its ALL GO or NO GO for me. No more drinking. But my answer would be hell no, I sure as fuck don't trust a teetotaller. |

I am much more trustworthy when I have not been drinking. Haven't had a drink in 8 years.

I don't understand your question because I've been drinking Bulleit all evening.

I don't drink but I can curse like a drunken sailor who just stubbed his toe.
|
|
I don't drink by choice. Several alcoholics in both sides of my family, I'm not going to give it a chance to get me. I drank when I was in my late teens and early twenties but not so much after that.
Mistrust of someone who doesn't drink? Nope. |

Depends. If they have drank it, and don't anymore because they can't trust themselves with it due to prior behavior, it puts more of a negative slant on it than if it's someone who has simply chosen never to drink it at all because they have no desire to be intoxicated.

Quoted: I drink and curse. Does that make me trustworthy? Hell yes. SR71 porn helps too. |

In vino veritas
I view with suspicion those who won't drink with me or around me. |
|
I have several friends who are long-term recovering alcoholics that I trust immensely.
I wouldn't have trusted them when they were drunks. I like to drink, but am taking 90 days off. |

Funny thing though, what almost killed me helped me become healthier than any guru. book or program could. lol |

person who never drank never will=I dont wanna hang out with you
person who used to drink but dont no more= Respectable. Probly quit for a good reason, and has some great stories |

My best friend is Mormon...
He doesn't drink alcohol, or caffeine... I do and it doesnt bother him.... He respects my beliefs and I respect his.... |
|
No, unless they're former alcoholics or quit for medical reasons
There's just something "off" about most people I've known who have never had a drink |
|
What someone decides not to drink has no bearing whatsoever on trust.

I'm LDS, and therefore I don't drink either. I have no interest in alcohol whatsoever. Nor smoking or illicit drugs. I'll admit to swearing occasionally, but it's pretty rare. |
|
I have a small level of distrust for anyone who drinks to excess.

About the only exception I'll make is for religious folks, and then it still takes a bit for me to warm up to them. AzYoungGun is GTG though, and he doesn't drink. So I geuss even for me it's not a universal rule. Still........In vino veritas |

I don't drink, but that's mostly out of a preference for generally not putting empty calories in booze, and the lack of good drinking friends (getting drunk and chit-chatting is no where near as fun as getting punch-me-in-the-face-drunk, and my friends don't drink like that) But I see the fun in it and don't hold it against people that do like to drink. If someone is DEATHLY afraid of alcohol, I don't trust them. Almost a lil more if it's for religious reasons. (Gut reaction here, nothing personal, it's just my initial knee jerk) Alcohol is bad, sure, but it won't really fuck you up if you just have a few drinks to socialize.
I also cuss regularly. |
|
<- Teetotaler.
If it were up to me,I'd legalize pot and cocaine and drop the drinking/smoking/snorting age to 16. My decisions are about me,not you. I no more want my decisions to influence you than I want you to infringe on my hobbies and liberties. |
|
No drinkin', spittin', or cussin'? Gonna have a hard time trustin' ya.
Stupid story - Met a guy one apartment unit over from us. Invited him for beer and grilled chicken sometime. He tells me "Sure, but I don't drink, so I'll just have water." Either he couldn't control his liquor at one point in the past and doesn't wanna relapse, which I would understand. Or he binge drinks in the closet so no one will see. ETA: Religious teetotalers don't count. But I don't really trust them anyway. |
|
I do not trust them; someone who always wants to be in full control is always looking to get one over on someone else and they believe that by not drinking it gives them an "edge"/
Now I do not have this feeling for people who have given up drinking, they have found that they can't handle it and made a wise decision. The ones that really need to be watched are politicians who don't drink...that is a power hungry person, who wants to be in control, spend other peoples money and have an edge to get one over on other people. Very dangerous. |
|
Non drinker here. Why all the hate? How does that affect you?

I'm not sure about trust, it's more like a mild pity.
Like someone who's too proud of having never fucked a girl. |
|
Uhh, what?
I dislike Christians who preach about how alcohol will send you to hell. In my experience they only do this when sober, plus there is no biblical standing to think responsible drinking is a damnable offense. But when I drink I make a conscious decision to partake in a beverage I enjoy for a variety of reasons. That is my choice to do so. I do not think any less of people who choose not to. |
|
Depends on their reason I guess.
Broad brush strokes only work when painting barn sides. |

People who didn't start drinking until well into adulthood are often not good to be around.
It's a skill that needs to be practiced, and you usually make an ass out of yourself in the process. That can be funny when you are young and dumb, but not so much when you are 25 or 30. |
|
A friend of mine quit drinking when she was young, like 16, something like that, but drank from about the time she was 13, she now views it as bad for you. I quit drinking when I was 23, started this last year or so, but I only drink one drink now. I didn't quit because I had a problem, I just didn't feel like it after a while, I curse like a sailor, so I think can probably be trusted. I didn't have my first drink until I was 19, but thankfully due to good drunk German and Irish genes I could drink almost anyone under the table.

Quoted: I dislike Christians who preach about how alcohol will send you to hell. What's the difference between Catholics and Pentecostals? Catholics will wave 'hi' to you at the liquor store. |

I do not enjoy drinking at all
I find it laborious to get them down. |
