I am new to gardening, this is my second year.

I have never even seen a mole. The mole tunneled in and out of my garden. This is ruining our garden and yard.

My dad has the same problem with field mice and pack rats. I use a Sheridan 5mm pellet gun with 6 pumps and a 1 million candle power cordless spot light [50].

If you have a "Do-it-youreself-Pest Control" type store in your area they carry poison specifically designed for moles. Comes in a cone. I think you break the end of it off and stick in the ground and it attracks them to the bait. Imagine it works like rat poison.

My problem this year is fleas! The indoor/outdoor dogs have become permanent out door dogs now and I still can't get rid of them!

I've used every type of chemical there is from the pest control store in every inch of the house, under the house and around the house...several times!

Want to trade your moles for my fleas?

The moles are after grubs. Go to wal-mart or something like it and get Diazinon cryslals. Their in the garden area. They kill(sorry) STOP ants,fleas,cockroachs,ect...

The moles will either starve or move on to your neighbor's yard. Good Luck

Those mini-wind mills that look like fake flowers work good, or so my step dad says. He had moles real bad. Moles don't like the vibrations that these things make.

Not in the house, but a total of 18 under the house on 3 separate occasions. 6 each time for a 1500 sq/ft house!

I've also (under the house)have sprayed a chemical taht comes in a container that hooks up to the water hose and sprayed it twice. And I've sprayed Precor twice, prevents the eggs from hatching and the larvea growing into adults.

Won't go into everything I've done inside the house!

We had this problem three years ago and I sprayed Precor and a Catalyst once in the house and under the house and the problem was solved. However, the EPA will not allow them to sell the Catalyst anymore.

Arrrgggh!

Use the pest bombs inside. They spread the chemical really well. You have to cover both outside and inside with them because the pinko commie bastards lay eggs constantly.

Get Advantage from the Vet, then spray your yard with malithion (sp) it'll kill every insect in the yard. Should only need to apply it once or twice. Problem solved, takes about 20 minutes.

Find a fresh or freshly revamped main tunnel and carefully place a spring mole trap at mid day, pushing the tunnel down halfway under the trigger.

Using two or three for scattered main tunnels works even better.

Having studied the buggers a bit back in School, I have to say that Happyshooter's solution is most in line with my understanding of mole control. Stores like Home Depot or Lowe's usually sell mole traps. If there is a reputable pest control company in your area they may sell you traps as well.

If you are near a university with an Agriculture or Bology Department, or even a University of MO Extension Center, you may also be able to get free advice there.

DUDE!!! Ya gotta gas 'em out!! WE used to mix chlorine and ammonia and dump it in the holes.. It forms chlorine gas and croaks the little buggers!!

OR

You could find a member of PETA and a mole counselor/negotiator and try to reason with them. [:D]

Hey, claymores aren't that bad of an idea. If you live in a rural area purchase some 12 or 20 guage #9's and rig a booby trap. Use a rat trap, shotgun shell, and some fishing line. A little practice and you'll figure it out.

I used to shove roman candles and m80's down their holes. Marginally effective, but it sure was fun. Mothballs in the holes seemed to discourage them and there are kits you can buy to gas them with carbon monoxide. I fought them to an uneasy standstill. Never did get a clear shot at the sneaky bastards. Good luck, you will need it.

Thanks for all the info.

I'm not sure if I can use the spring traps. I have a problem with mouse traps also. I throw the entire trap away.

The chemical ideas sound great. I don't care how they die.

I twisted my ankle in one of there holes last night. After a trip to the ER, x-rays and a pair of crutches, THIS IS REVENGE!!!

Mrs. Tippie has the right idea. Advantage on the dogs, Malathion on the yard....now go one step further in the house. Sprinkle Borax on your carpet and anywhere the dogs bed down. Leave it there for a couple of hours, then vaccuum. Yeah, I'm talking about the old 20 Mule Team Borax. You can get it in the laundry aisle at the grocery store. Works great to get rid of fleas. Do this a couple of times a week for a 2 or 3 weeks. If you treat the yard, the dogs, and the house at the same time, your problem should be solved. [;)]

Fleas: Put down flea power for them while going away for a weekend. They prefer a blood meal, but if there's nothing else, they eat mites or the flea powder. I tried Flea bombs several times to no avail and in desperation bought a can of flea power. My problem was gone in 48 hours.

Moles: Gum works good. Most moles never surface long enough to get any kind of a shot. Gophers on the other hand, can be bold sonzabitches and merit ballistic attention.

You guys have problems with moles? Come to my house, I have mounds so large that my riding mower deck gets hung up on them. I grade them down level when I mow and the next week they are towering again in the yard. The funny thing is that neither of the neighbors to either side of me has a single mole hill.

I've never had any luck with traps.
I've used mole bombs they do seem to work but they leave dead grass lines.
A buddy of mine turned me on to road flares.
Dig a hole to expose their tunnel.Insert an unlit flare to make sure it fits.When it fits easy enough take it out and light it, re-insert it and back fill.I recommend doing several locations at a time.
Road flares work good and don't kill the grass (at least mine or the people I know who have done this).
I was surprized on how easy and effective this is.

I just got back from your neck of the woods. I was going to offer the use of my old Victor mole traps (I have six). If used properly they will work--guaranteed. The new ones are only marginal, at best. They are made so flimsy they usually won't stay set. I bought my six on ebay for about eight bucks each, plus shipping. Be sure to use the spear type, the "scissors" type is worthless, especially in heavy soil. Call me if you want help. [red]You must promise not to throw them away. [/red] [:D]
