I have been using SETI@home for just over 3 years now. 496 workunits and 15946 hours and counting! I had been running it on a 333 Mhz K6-2 machine with 64 meg of ram. The workunits were taking around 44 hours. I'm now using a 1.4 Ghz Athlon Thunderbird with 256 meg of DDR ram on a 266 Mhz front-side bus motherboard. Now the workunits take only 6.5 hours to complete!! [bounce]
Vulcan94 Edited to add that I joined as well. |

I would have done SETI, but united devices (www.ud.com) is doing a similar project for cancer research. I believe the cancer project to have more potential impact on mankind, and encourage you to look into it if you agree.

Just added my units to the ar15.com group.
My CPU must be super-slow, I've got over 3500 hours, but only 56 units. Oh well. [:)] |
