I HATE 'EM...
I HATE 'EM...
I HATE 'EM...

I'm sooo glad I was never dumb enough to actually spend good money on one...

I'm totally lost when it comes to computers...

I bought a WebTV unit a year ago, so I could "surf the web"...

It's capabilities are very limited, but it does EXACTLY what I need it to do...

Send/receive email, surf the web, create my own webpage, download & save pictures, etc...

My brother donated a spare (his old) computer to me 3 days ago...
It's a fancy schmancy Packard Bell with a cd drive, cd burner, scanner, printer, etc...

In 3 days, I figured out how to scan a picture onto the monitor screen, and how to print info off the help screen...
Nothing more...

Tonight, I somehow fried the thing...
It will do nothing at all...
Turns on, but goes nowhere...

What a frikkin pain in the ass...
Brother is getting it back...
If I keep the POS, I will smash it to pieces, or shoot it full of holes at the range...

LONG LIVE WEBTV !!!
No need to sit in an uncomfortable desk chair...

I just kick back in my recliner, and type on a 36" color TV with my wireless keyboard...

I'll NEVER buy a computer...
They are way too complicated for my simple mind....

You'd be surprised how fast these things are...

I tried to get on this site last night with the computer, and got hung up on a page full of BRC pictures...
Took several minutes to download 2 pics, so I gave up...

Jumped back on with the WebTV, and the pics popped up in a few seconds...

Videos are slow, but seldom do I need to see one anyway...
Last one I saw was the Russian soldier getting his head cut off...
No need for that again...

I'll stick with the webtv thingy...

It works too good for me to switch to a overcomplicated POS computer...

Proof positive some folks just shouldn't own computers. First clue:  "fancy schmancy Packard Bell".

No offense, I'm glad you are happy.  [:)]

Gotta love that WebTV Ghost Recon. Wait a minute. You can't play Ghost Recon on WebTV. Oh well.

1) I have very little tolerance for overcomplicated things, and no patience to sit and read all about something I will never fully understand or use effectively...

2) I Don't like staring at a little monitor...My screen right now is 36"

3) Way too much pointing & clicking, opening & closing, minimizing & maximizing bullshit...5 buttons will take me anywhere I want to go...

I've tried and struggled with a computer before...
Just not my can of beans...

WebTV does nothing more, or nothing less than I need...
It's perfect for ME...

No interest in playing games on a computer either...My PS2 does just fine...

Yea??  But what about writing?  Printing?  Faxing??  Storing files?  Photo editing?

I write with a pen and paper...

The printer does any printing I may need, It runs off the WebTV....
Anything else can be done at the local printshop...

I fax the old fashioned way via stamp & envelope...

I store my files in a filing cabinet...

A spare roll of film covers any photo editing I may need...

Just call me Fred...
Meet my wife Wilma, and my neighbors Barney & Betty Rubble [:D]

Is WebTV DSL or broadband capable? I use to hate waiting for stuff to download at 56K. Large images are the worst.

Anyhow, my kids play games on the computer, my wifes composes newsletters on it. I don't think WebTV would cut it for us. Setting up and using computers is so simple now that it's hard for me to imagine a grown man not be able to tackle it.

That's the most frustrating part, seeing kids wiz through them with ease...

I've built 1000hp racing engines, racing automatic transmissions, and completely wired entire cars...

Why the hell does my mind go blank when I turn on the computer ?
Doesn't really matter anyway....
It doesn't work anymore, I've got it all screwed up...

WebTV was created so that AOL users would finally have something to make fun of.

Believe me, Art has some nice stuff (I don't think any muzzle loaders), and he's waiting for some even better stuff if BATF will ever get off their asses and process some paperwork.  He's also pretty damn talented when it comes to mechanical stuff.  Computers apparently just aren't his thing.  A lot of people can use a computer to do basic tasks like surf the net, but few have his kind of mechanical talent.

BTW Art, I got your email - try and keep August open.  I'll give you a call this week.
Maybe I'll bring my computer and we can do a little computer repair to both of them with the 1919.

To each his own. I could be wrong, but I'd guess that you're probably in the area of 35+....I find a lot of people on that side tend to have difficulty with the concepts of computers, mostly due to it being something that they never grew up with. Unlike engines, or firearms, you can't really take it apart and see exactly how everything works...that gets to some people...

2) I Don't like staring at a little monitor...My screen right now is 36"

Hehe....every so often I run the S-Video cord from my vidcard to the 52" projection....but my fave was when I had it running of a professional level projector and line doubler.
240" horizontal....man playing Unreal Tournament on that was a blast.

3) Way too much pointing & clicking, opening & closing, minimizing & maximizing bullshit...5 buttons will take me anywhere I want to go...

Only seems that way till you get used to it. Heck, on my system I can open any program I want in two clicks, max. Then again, I've not seen the WebTV be able to rip a CD to MP3 and download videos from the web in the background while doing video editing in the foreground...

No interest in playing games on a computer either...My PS2 does just fine...

Dragracerart/computerhaterart.......your not alone,I like the options you refer to.A "BIG" screen and comfy-recliner chair are preferences for me also.I have a laptop that runs off the web tv too.Uses up 30mb though. The connection times not to bad.Plus,we never get those viriuses the 'kids' send out,the webtv people frown on that sort of crap!....[;)]
