Every time I turn on the PC or restart it, my homepage gets changed to:

http://www.skyinet.net/~chu/sdgfhjksdfjklNBmnfgkKLHjkqwtuHJBhAFSDGjkhYUgqwerasdjhPhjasfdglkNBhbqwebmznxcbvnmadshfgqw237461234iuy7thjg/WIN-BUGSFIX.exe[/url

How could I stop this?? I already looked in my Startup files and there is nothing there. The URL is broken and may have been nuked by the ISP.

Would really appreciate any help.

Thanks so much.

Using Internet Explorer, go to

Tools -> Internet Options

Top section, under Home Page, either click "Use Blank" to speed loading of IE, or set to your choice of web pages to load on start.

Also, since it is directing you to an executable file, I'd recommend a visit to Windows Update, and I STRONGLY recommend running a virus scan using up-to-date virus definition files.

HTH...

Aimless: If you let me know of the fix you found I will try and 'translate' it from geek speak.

Busted (-: ....but anyway...

riddler: if you don't find the winsys.vbs file this isn't the correct fix. This is a valid fix though.
Did resetting your hompage work? It should.

Updates are a great idea along with AntiVirus.

Quoted:

1. Delete WINSYS.VBS (.VBA) from windows directory
2. Delete WIN0.TXT and WIN1.TXT from windows directory
3. Set correct home/search/etc pages (an easy way is “restore defaults” and then setting the preferred homepage)
4. Run MSCONFIG (on non-2000 boxes) and remove WINSYS.VBA from the Startup tab
5. Reboot

I have no clue if this is right/stupid whatever-Me, Aimless again.

this is valid if the file winsys.vba(this is not a normal windows file) is there. else you need to reset your homepage in IE. to either the aformentioned blank or another page such as ar15.com

whenever a page popes up a question asking if it can be your homepage say NO.. porn sites do this and it cause problems after that because any URL can be set and they become a bitch to get rid of. had a student do this where i work.  we tried for 5 mins the reloaded a image in 10 on it. not worth fighting it when we can do that. but it would be worth it to get adaware (again aformentioned).

sometimes even if you reset your homepage it will get set back to the porn site. this is because of a registry entry in windows.. i forget where. ill have to see if i can find it again and post here tomorrow. but it autosets the homepage on boot. if memory serves its not in any normal windows startup location.
