My son and I were walking and looking for shells. This was off the main beach, you had to walk 500 yards or so down the shore where there is no easy access from the road and not many folks. A family was there. I gather they were French, or at least speaking French. The mother and her daughter were wearing bikini bottoms only, and the girl was probably only 14 or maybe even younger.

Now you see topless folks from time-to-time on the main beach –– it's not illegal in New York to go topless at the beach. That by itself was not unusual.

But I had my flip camera out and had been making some videos as I walked along the shore. I was then struck with a thought:

If I'd taken a video of my son on the beach, and this girl walked into the background of the photo, I'd be a felon and could go to jail for years.

It is kind of a weird world we live in.

You'd be fine in NYS unless you captured the girl and her boyfriend going at it in the background. The law states "sexual conduct" or lewd nature, explicitly.

IIRC last time I was in germany they just outlawed nudity on the subways.

Here in CO there are some hot springs you can go to that are clothing optional. Many do not have age limits.

Reminds me of something that happened when I was in high school. Our family has friends in a nearby town who have kids in my age group. The Dad is a very proper, well off businessman. One summer when we were all of high school age, they had a foreign exchange student over. She was from France, and smoking hot.

Now I didn't see this, but heard the story. One weekend they went out water skiing at a nearby lake and they were all taking turns. The French chick decided it would be nice to sunbathe while waiting for her turn, so she removed her top. The adults on the boat were speechless. I mean, something like this doesn't happen every day in South Louisiana.

From all accounts it was quite a sight. They did eventually convince her to put her top back on.

Hot tub looked good, so me, my wife, and my 9 year old girl promptly stripped naked as the day we were born and got in. 3/4 of the people there looked at us like we were fucking aliens. Not intended as a slam. You'd be surprised at the way nudity is viewed in other parts of the world. The first time I left the US, I flew into Munich, Germany. I was jet-lagging my ass off and got driven into the center of town where I was waiting on another family member who was coming in on a later flight. So I'm sitting on a park bench in English Garden (a big public park), drinking a beer, and eating some food, when I notice a couple of dudes playing frisbee about 50 yards away from me... completely naked... wangs flopping around as they chased the disc. Right as I realize what's going on, a group of nuns walks by between me and them. They took no notice, just kept calmy and slowly strolling by having a conversation among themselves. It was surreal. Now, when I'm in Europe, I don't even notice that shit anymore.
