These are not cars, they are aircraft restricted to the ground by their wings!

Yep, watching it and will be watching the Coke-Cola 600 later. Be interesting to see how Robbie Gordon does in either race. Damn, to race 1100 miles, in 1 day. He'll be good and tired tonight. And possibly sore.

I am watching the Indy 500 because I am bored. The real race will be on later (NASCAR Coca-Cola 600) at Charlotte! Although there is nothing stock about a stock car, at least they resemble a real car somewhat. Hehe.

Being an old road racer the circle track guys are not as interesting as I'd like but it's still racing.

I had an uncle who raced hard tops when I was a kid. The memories of watching him on the 4th of July still gives me goose bumps.

Wife is glued to the set watching. I personally am bored to tears by it.

While I prefer the road course, I try to never miss the Indy 500. The Coca-Cola 600 might be interesting, but I probably won't bother to watch it. Too many other things to do on a beautiful day like today.

Isn't every day a beautiful day in AZ? When I lived in Mesa the only bad days were in the summer.

Heck yes I'm watching!

I don't know quite what it is about Indy that makes it so danged appealing. Probably all the media hype, but I still love it! I watch it every year, when I have to work I tape it. I haven't missed a start in a decade until today (delayed getting away from work). We usually have a party on race day, not this year though.

One of the best darn races of the season!

Of course everyday is beautiful in Az. Even the summer, in this part of the state. Well, it will be if we get any rain this year.

I hate when a race finishes under yellow.

Yeah, disappointing to say the least. They should change the rule.

I live in the blackout area, Im listening on the net. Unless you have been to a Indy 500 to criticize it is a statement made from ignorance. What a blast.
In my younger days one of my trips(always in the infield) I never even saw a car! Saw a lot of tits and inside of a lot of beer cans! Ahh,, the good old days.

Not really interested , but my future son-in-law and his family are race fanatics so I have to learn enough to carry on a 2 sentence conversation .

The race looks real boring on t.v. but it is interesting.

If you know what to look for you can see how the car is handling in, through, and out of the corner.

If you are in the pits working with a team it is MUCH more interesting.

I don't go to races any more if I'm not part of it.  Sitting in the stands is boring.

Used to be the NASCAR sedan racers were built from 2-door hardtop bodies.  Those were the sportiest enclosed cars of their type.  There was a time when there was a separate Convertible Class too that raced on the sand beach at Daytona.  Pre-Daytona Speedway before 1958.  Starting in 1959 Chevrolet and Pontiac made "fastback" hardtops designed to be more aerodynamic for racing.  They were successful enough Ford did the same starting in 1963.  Still see some special bodywork on limited production runs.

Oh well, its always a good race.

Tell her if they would have red flaged the race and made them race the last lap, he would have run out of gas!

I agree with operatorerror, they should change the rule.

I did but she doesn't care.
I think they should change the rule as well.
If it wasn't for the yellow the Brazilian would have lost.

Then a Canadian would have won.  I was pulling for Tracy.  I don't like him but I can't stand Penske.  He was one of the founders of CART, but jumped ship.  He has no loyalty except to the almighty dollar.  It was hard to pull against Castroneves, as I met him when he was in Indy Lights and they raced at Hutchinson Island near Savannah.  I was working corners and got a chance to talk to him, nice guy.  However, my disdain for Penske meant I had to pull against Castroneves.

As for those saying Charlotte is the real race, I say NO, the real race is on in between the two, F1 from Monaco.  Those walls are damn close.

Not knocking Indy, as I did watch it, even though Tony George and his IRL (Idiotic/Inferior Racing League) have definitely reduced it in stature, but NASCAR is just pro wrestling on wheels.
