As some of you might remember, the "serious facial injuries" to Schultz resulted from being shot with an M4 at close range, apparently for the crime of driving a red car.

The "investigation" has now been ongoing for two and a half months--begging the question, "just how much is there to investigate in this case, anyway?"--during which agent Braga has been on PAID leave, and other agents in his field office have characterized this as a "good shoot."

Had you or I, as armed citizens, comitted such a mistake (I'll give agent braga the benefit of the doubt and assume it really was a mistake) we would have been arrested immediately, placed in jail, and forced to come up with a large bond to see our homes again.  We would have had to retain a lawyer.  The local prosecutor would be making statements to the press about what a danger armed citizens were.  The investigation would have long since been concluded.

I guess some animals (especially those with a federal badge) are a little more equal than others, huh?

I respect cops, but I challenge them to speak out against this.  This is disgusting.

P.S.  One article I saw (sorry no reference) stated that Braga was (is) a Marine.  Do Marines train for CQB with the intention of taking prisoners?  Or do they train only to kill?  

I think it is safe to say that some people who would be or are excellent soldiers, and who are good at it and should be admired for their sacrifices for their country, would nonetheless make less than desirable civilians.  Mr. Braga sounds like such a person.  In a combat situation against a national enemy he would have been acting justly.  As a law enforcement officer in this country dealing with law abiding civilians, he is little more than a government sanctioned gangster and a rogue cop.  He should have stayed in the military.

Reminds me of the scene in Full Metal Jacket where the drill sargeant is talking about what a motivated marine is capable of.

This is an indication of where law enforcement has been heading all of these years- MILITARIZATION and an us (police) vs. them (non-police) attitude.  One of the few things I have agreed with Rush Limbaugh was his statement to the effect that "the job of military is to kill people and destroy things" and is the reason why they should not be used in a domestic police role.

I hope the guy he shot recovers completely. . . and then kills the fucker.

This wouldn't have qualified as a "good shoot" if Braga was still a Marine. Hasn't anyone here ever walked armed firewatch or guard mount, and gotten one of those "Deadly Force" cards?

A. Protecting DOD assets designated as vital to national security.

B. Protecting DOD assets not vital to national security, but inherently dangerous to others.

C. Performing official duties when you reasonably believe yourself or others to be in imminent danger of death or serious bodily harm.

D. Preventing serious violent offenses which could result in death or critical bodily harm.

E. It reasonably appears necessary to arrest or apprehend persons suspected of committing an offense of the nature specified in paragraphs A, B, C or D above.

F. Competent authority may specifically authorize the use of deadly force when it reasonably appears necessary to prevent the escape of a prisoner who threatens serious bodily harm or death to escorting persons. During an escape attempt, you must have probable cause to believe that the prisoner is in fact attempting to escape and that the escaping prisoner poses a threat of serious bodily harm either to yourself or others.[/red]

Even in Allfuctupistan, Braga wouldn't have been authorized to shoot an unarmed Afghan in the face when that Afghan posed no threat to himself or anyone else,and clearly wasn't attempting to escape.

Jarhead...you nailed it!  I hope he isn't a formerly active duty Marine.  That feeb blew that incident and shot totally without justification.  I am sickened to see that he is out on the street armed again...since I think I read somewhere else that he has a quick temper and trigger anyway.  I really hope the FBI begins to use the rules of deadly force we had to learn and which you have thoughtfully provided.  They are simply common sense.  Shit!  Taking a person's life over property is stupid anyway!  Who the hell made that bozo God?

My mind just screams the question...why in the HELL did that dude blast that kid with his M4?  Nothing...not one stinking fact so far divulged by any source indicates any reasonable justification for blasting away like that.

Finally...imagine...just imagine what the consequences would be if one of us private citizens did what that feeb did.  We'd be wearing prison orange for years and years.

That kid who Braga shot is gonna be a rich man someday...at taxpayers' expense too.
