So apparently our campus police think that "from a police standpoint, anyone with a gun is a potential threat."  I wonder if that includes his officers...

Jeebus?  You would think the campus cops would acknowledge that it's not a particularly goods area.  I lived in a frat house on Oak Street in the mid 90's, I can't imagine what it's like now.  I really used to love walking home after ending my shift at the Library at midnight.  It got worse around the 1st and 15th because the goblins had cash to get liquored up.  I'd rather deal with the panhandling than the already drunk goblins.

There was a gang related shooting in one of the dorms a couple years back too.  No one got hit, but a few people had bullets go through their walls while they were in bed.

Based on the quote, I'd guess they have daily shoot outs in the PO LEECE station.

We had a shhoting in a dorm once, not gang relateed though.

The first year I was there I lived in the Stadium dorm.  Kind of a shithole.  There was an indoor range for the ROTC department on one end that we would shoot 22s and M16s with 22 sub caliber adapters in.  The wall behind the backstop was the the scond floor hall bathroom.  One day, one of the cadre shot his personal rifle there.  I think it was a Garand.  Anyway, soembody was in a stall taking a dump and  thwack, pieces of cinderblock started hitting him in the leg.  No full penetrations, but I don't think he had any constipation issues after that.  The strangest part of the story.  Nobody freaked out.  Not the poor shitter, not the administration, ROTC department.  Everyone was instructed to keep it to 22s at the indoor range and we painted a bullseye on that stall door.

The most recent shooting on campus happened in the on campus housing of a UTC Police officer.  The officer left a revolver with a student who was visiting him and when the officer left the room the student shot himself with the gun.

Anyone with a pulse is a threat.  People who legally carry EVERYWHERE ELSE IN CHATTANOOGA are the least of their worries.

The worst mass shooting spree in the history of the planet was committed by a police officer.

If they are law abiding citizens, they should be allowed have the RIGHT to own, possess and carry a gun, anywhere and anytime......as long as they ain't roaring drunk.

Period, end of story.

Though I graduated from UTC in 1998, the campus police was not known then for outstanding intelligence.

I see things haven't changed much...

<Snicker>.  I spent 3 years on that campus.  The only useful thing I ever saw them do was slim jim a car door when a student locked their keys inside.

Additional personnel would have to be hired to handle the workload and to make sure that students kept up with their permits, UTC Police Chief Robert Ratchford said.

WTF? University police keep track of who has a concealed carry license?
