As much as it does humans?

My Black and Tan Coonhound was just out back and decided it would be smart to chew the extension cord to the flood light I have setup in the yard.

I heard a LOUD yelp and she was several feet away from the plug.

I put gloves on, pulled the plug out of the wall and cut the plug off (In case a human reaches to plug it in)

She was walking around with her back slouched like she was just spanked for something

I put the cut off end of the plug near her face and she ran away. I guess 120 Volts isn't fun for Canines

I'm hoping shes ok.

Yuppers. Can hurt and kill them just like you. Check for burn marks in her mouth/gums

Ask Michael Vick.

Lucky she's still alive. I'm guessing it was a 20 amp circuit. More than enough to send her to doggy heaven. She must have gotten free from it fairly quick.

Yep.

We had a kitten who liked to chew anything snake-like.

She lost a fight with a Christmas tree light cord.

(Not dead, but stopped breathing for a while.)

Check for the burns, but the electric shock could also  cause a severe muscle contraction that could result in  strained/torn muscles, tendons, etc, etc. Could also break a bone. I'd call your vet, at least.

My buddys rottweiler did that with an extension cord and it burned a hole through his tongue about the size of a quarter.

My dog decided to lick a light switch I had removed to do some painting. Guess the kids had food on their hands or something when they touched it.

He was fine but, he stays away from all plugs and light switches now.

Ya it'll light them up just as much, unless they are wearing a rubber jacket.

Haha yeah she was fine this morning but I highly doubt she'll be biting any more cords. I hope not anyway.

Same shit they just don't  understand so well so it's more traumatizing at first. When i was a kid dogs learned to say away from electric fence on the farm pretty quick though.

Thank you. I needed that.

I think what kills humans is that it goes from your left arm through your heart and down your leg to reach ground.

In a dog, it might go from the mouth down a front leg and not go through the heart.
