oooooh, super armor penetrating steel penetrator eh?
Why does this stuff give you guys a boner? I can't even shoot it at any of the ranges I goto...the cheaper m193 is OK though. |

Wayward steel + rock = spark Spark + brush = bad times The odds of it actually happening are pretty low, but the odds of brass sparking are zero. |

Widener's has the Isreali M855 (62gr.) on sale for $399/1200 and M193 (55gr.) at $388/1200
I wouldn't buy American Eagle or Federal as I reload and the primer pockets are often loose and the flashhole with AE are often off center. Your opinion my be different so buy what you want, just sayin' in case you reload or sell your brass cuz' reloaders I know won't touch the Fed/AE stuff. BTW, last I heard LC is now being made by Federal so I wouldn't be surprised if quality goes down if that is indeed the case (no pun intended.) YMMV ETA: PMC ROCKS!!! |

M855 is the designation for the loaded cartridge
SS109 is the designation for the projectile used in M855 Ball |

so are greentips junk? I thought the PPU M855 where good to go?
|

I stand corrected....after a wee bit of research that i should have done before I posted, SS109 is the FN cartridge M855 was derived from....not a projectile

SS109 is the designation for the 62 grain bullet with penetrator in the center of the bullet.

Dude, Case head refers to the bottom of the case where the primer sits. Check the glossary here Head - The base of a cartridge case that contains the primer, rim, extracting grove, and headstamp. |

A lot of the federal bulk has case dings. But it seems to shoot OK.

Lots of WTF going on in this thread.
M855 is good ammo, but not as effective on soft targets as the M193. If you want to be really badass you can load a mag alternating the two. The 77 gr Mk262 is the shiz though. |
