It creates disention among gun enthusiasts.

It has NOTHING to do with guns.

It alienates secular shooters who might otherwise post here.

It creates controversy as most faiths conflict in beliefs.

It helps reinforce the media notion that all gun owners are religious zealots.

It helps reinforce the notion that all things like gun ownership and religion are anitquated, outdated and unecessary in modern society.

It helps reinforce the notion that gun owners are not able to think for themselves but follow the NRA as blindly as the Bible.

And I could think of several more, but that is a start.

But let me get to the REAL point of my post. Several "members" have been critical of me for posting topics like:

Do Any Of You Guys REALLY Believe In The Devil?

KENT STATE Over 30 Years Later...

OK, A SERIOUS Religious Question...

So Where The HELL Were We...?

Galileo's Letter to the Church (1632)

Sexual Faux Pas...

Your Custom Horoscope...

Israels "Final Soultion"...TRANSFER

Female Israeli Soldiers In Combat...

because they create dissention and cause arguments. But for every reason they give on why I shouldn't post the above topics I can give the SAME reason for them to not post THEIR topics.

And of coure while they are busy demonizing me and suggesting my only contributions are PORN (if you want to count pictures of females that I posted long ago as porn) and controversial topics that only cause trouble.

All the while ignoring posts like:

AR15.com. ARMY Call Up...NEW MISSION...

Things To Do Before You DIE..

Attacking the MYTH...

So What Worked For You?

Unbelieveable Achievements You May NOT Know...

But more importantly, the reason people post about religion is the same reason I post about a wide variety of topics. BECAUSE YOU CAN.

This is the General Discussion Forum, the topic IS General Discussion. You can post about religion, I can post about the problems associated with religion or any other topic for that matter. And so can anyone else. You can disagree with me, and I can disagree with you. That is the point.

If you prefer not to post with the "unwashed" and those like me, that is why they created the "Team AR15.Com   [Restricted]  The Team AR15.Com Clubhouse" Forum. So you don't have to suffer the pointless diversion of the General Discussion Forum. It is also the reason they created the "General Firearm Discussion Firearm based discussions" Forum.

So am I preventing you from talking about guns? NO. Do you have a place to post and bring the kids where I won't bother you? YES. Buy a Team AR15 membership and never suffer my opinions again. Leave me and the rest of the uncouth in GD purgatory.

Because the problem is actually this. If I were just someone that disagreed with you, you wouldn't care. But because I effectively challenge and counter certain "sacred institutions" like the Church, The Republican Party and the NRA when they fall short or fail to act in our best interests those who blindly support them get their panties kinda bunched up.

So if you only want to talk about guns:
http://www.ar15.com/forums/forum.html?id=74

If you want a place "like" the GD but free of me:
http://www.ar15.com/forums/forum.html?id=75

If you want a gun forum run by Christians and for Christians:
http://assaultweb.net/

And if you want to really take me to task:
http://www.full-auto.com/

But in the meantime I'm gonna continue to post in the GD, as long as the heathen Goat permits. I will disagree with topics I don't agree with. And when I find a person lacking in the correct facts I will correct them. Much like other members do with me.

Looking forward to the first dumbass who cannot read who says I posted "We shouldn't have religious discussions in the GD."

Sorry to everyone else, I'm just getting sick of the NEW Bible Club and their Inquisition to cleanse the AR-15.com General Discussion Forum.

Steyr,

I have no problem with whatever you and the others post. Honestly, the GD forums nowadays have been quite bland and in need of some stirring up.

Besides, if I do not like the topic or the topic author, I do not click on it anyway.

Now why don't you go play in the Private Ar15.com Team Clubhouse. I swear it will be neat. Why post babe of the day threads?

It creates disention among gun enthusiasts.

It has NOTHING to do with guns.

It alienates women shooters who might otherwise post here.

It creates controversy of differing beliefs.

It helps reinforce the media notion that all gun owners are male chavanists.

And I could think of several more, but that is a start.

...

You could fill in the blank with the above text with any non-gun-related topic.  Do any of you guys want to get rid of all non-gun topics?  I don't think so, so I don't think one should complain about religion discussions unless they want to get rid of all off-topic discussions.z

CONGRATULATIONS, you completely grasped ONE PART of my original post. Far better than most.

Since you are so advanced I will simply tell you the other part.

I was in fact NOT suggesting we do away with religious topics.

Jebus Crunch on a rusty pogo stick, people...

Granted, I'll state now that I'm not Goatboy, I can't read his mind or understand his motives and intentions, but it seems to me as pretty common knowledge that a General Discussion forum is for all the dredged sludge that wouldn't go anywhere else.

You wanna talk about religion?  Fine, GenDis is for you.

You wanna talk about Israel v/s Palestine?  Use GenDis as your platform.

You want to post either of these topics in the Reloading forum, or General Firearms, or any other place with a frikkin' established topic, THEN you are in the wrong.

SteyrAUG, IMHO, has followed the general outline of every single other GenDis forum on every other website I've ever seen - if it doesn't (or wouldn't) fit anywhere else, then it belongs here!

You don't like a thread?  STOP READING IT.

Don't like religious topics?  DON'T RESPOND.

Want to state a point in disagreement?  GO RIGHT AHEAD.

If you don't like being in the sewers here in GenDis, clean yourself off and go somewhere else.

Yeah, I'm the FNG here.  Yeah, my postcount isn't in the thousands.  I'm a newbie, WTF should I know.

I know that I'm sick of the bitching about ANY type of post here in General Discussion, SteyrAUG's AND otherwise.

SteyrAUG - as one who seldom posted on religious topics until 'challenged' to do so, I see nothing wrong whatsoever with posting whatever you feel like posting in the GD Forum!

BTW, 'GD' stands for 'General Discussion' - I don't want garandman claiming I'm taking the Lord's name in vain again! [:D]

So if you want to post on Jesus, etc., go ahead and let it rip!

Just be prepared to catch some flak, that's all!

But we're all big boys and girls around here.

Wasn't it Socrates who said that the unexamined life was not worth living?

And wasn't it Paul who told his fellow believers to be ready to give and account for the faith they had in Jesus Christ?

So there you have it from both sides - Pagan and Christian - to examine your beliefs, my beliefs, that fellow behind the tree's beliefs.

All God's chillun's beliefs!

I've explained this before but will do it again. I don't whine about others being nice to me. I actually don't care if people like me or not. Thought that would be apparent by now. But I will challenge opinions that I disagree with. Thus the controversy.

Why in the world would anyone want to visit a discussion forum that is filled with nothing but  fluffy discussions and "yes-man" replies.

I don't visit this forum because everyone marches in lock-step and fills thread after thread with replies of "Yep" and "What he said" and "Dittos".

I've also been accused by some of being a bit over-the-top in my replies, but hell, it gets the blood moving around here!

Comradery and common agreements are fine and encouraging, but to post a thread like the "one-eyed-jack" thread is just asinine and pointless - which is why I steered clear of it.

SteyrAUG, post whatever the hell you want and let all those sniveling, lily-licking, hypersensitive cry-babies just wet themselves while they tremble with fear because you posted a CHALLENGING and MATURE thread.

SteyrAug, I think we're all grown adults who can read.  I think the Conduct Code is understandable and easy to follow.  You should have the right to post something (within the conduct code guidelines) just like anyone else does.  I've been visiting this site for over a year and most of the time I just read posts.  I'll have to admit some have been hilarious while others have been distasteful, but I am the one who chooses to read them, or not read them.

Post away.

p.s.  has anyone posted about the man on the moon.  I think everything else has been covered already.

I'm fairly new to this site (which is great by the way) and I think the general discussion forum is great.

Yeah, we were all probably drawn here by our basic interest in weapons.  But we also have other interests (hopefully) and this is the best part.  It's a community and if we can't discuss other topics besides weaponry, we've been reduced to being fanatics.

I think it makes this website healthier when we talk about other topics in our lives besides gns.

Not really. First of all, He was a horseman: cavalry I expect. Job 39:19-25

"Hast thou given the horse strength? Hast thou clothed his neck with thunder?
Canst thou make him afraid as a grasshopper? The glory of his nostrils is terrible.
He paweth in the valley, and rejoiceth in his strength: he goeth on to meet the armed men.
He mocketh at fear, and is not affrightened; neither turneth he back from the sword.
The quiver rattleth against him, the glittering spear and the shield.
He swalloweth the ground with fierceness and rage: neither believeth he that it is the sound of the trumpet.
He saith among the trumpets, Ha, Ha! And he smelleth the battle afar off, the thunder of the captains, and the shouting"

And Rev 19:11,

"...and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called faithful and true..."

And He prefers the sword, Rev 19:15.

"And out of His mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it He should smite the nations..."
