Yep, I'm damned glad I'm leaving.

Building $300k lakefront townhouse for the poor.

Coldwell Banker's Parker says townhouses like those proposed for the New Bloomsbury Square could sell for $350,000 to $450,000 on the open market, depending on the view.

It would be hard to have a public housing community be more attractive than this one or be in a better location than this one," said Janet LaBella, chief attorney for the Anne Arundel Legal Aid Bureau, who represented Bloomsbury residents in negotiations with the state. "There won't be any comparison to the rest of the public housing in Annapolis."

"We're glad to get new houses -- stupid, we're not," Gally said. "Who wouldn't want to live near the water in Annapolis? It's a grand idea. It's going to be a beautiful, beautiful community."

Around here every low income development thats built is beautiful to begin with. Then becomes a complete shithole ghetto after two years time. Thats what happens when you give free housing to gang banging drug dealers and other scum of the earth. Your tax money at work[pissed]

Truth is - that's what happens (to an extent) when you give something free to anyone.

Take a look at the trust fund kids, or the ones where mommie & daddy pay for everything - they trash it.  They don't care about it, it was free.

You live here and have to ask?  Seriously?

1.  lower taxes
2.  ccw
3.  right to self defense
4.  far less crime
5.  more house/land for the money

Someone should follow this for curiosity's sake. Maybe even I will if I can get one of my Maryland resident siblings to investigate.

I would like to mention that IMHO, Maryland's housing development "politics" is as corrupt as corrupt can get. (I lived there for the first 30 years of my life)

They have a nice cutesy little low income housing program, the Moderate Priced Dwelling Unit (MPDU) program, that I participated in for over 5 years. You have to be drawn out of a lottery. 5 years, I was never drawn. Couldn't be because I'm white/male could it?

Also, in my neighborhood, a huge TH development went up and state law requires that something like 10% of the houses be for this program.

I remember going to look at the houses after I sent my form in. Funny thing, about 10 years later, _all_ the units in that section went up for sale. I went to talk to the RE agent that was sitting in one of the units made into an office.

Seems the whole bunch was bought up by an investment group, were rentals for 10 years, (funny, I remember part of the stipulation about the program was that you had to keep it for 10 years) and now the investment group was selling...

Wonder who is padding their pocket with this project. Think they are worth allot of $$$$ now? Just think what they will be worth in 10 years.

And you poor MD'rs are gonna pay for it all. Ya ever  wonder where all the Dem’s get their money? Ya ever  wonder why all the Dem’s love government programs?

Here in Nashville they tore down some projects & rebuilt some sort of "neighborhood style" projects. One woman was quoted as saying she'd lived in the old ones for 30-SOMETHING YEARS!!!!!!

What ever happened to getting a JOB????

I had the unfortunate chance to see the minneapolis public housing and what the low life fucks did to their free housing.  They would trash every room and steal the ai condition unit and the screen doors to sell for scrap.  The PH authority had to purchas a new large truck to haul away all their trash.  God dam scumbags.   Notice I did not mention anything about race, etc, it was EVERY group of people....

I had rental property for 6 years and sold them because I got tired of having my units trashed and having to hunt down the tenants for the rent. I can't tell you how many times I had to use my truck to haul out all the shit from both inside the house and out, because it was too numerous. Everything from mattresses to funiture to piles of dirty diapers.Outside wasn't any better. Usually had to pay to get rid of at least 8-10 tires left behind at each house. Had to repatch and paint most all walls and replace carpet between each tenant. Glad to be out of that business. Degenerate Fucks.

Since 1968, the state has officially targeted Bloomsbury Square (one of the nation's oldest "public" housing projects. additonal quote added for clarification) for extinction. But residents repeatedly defeated state efforts

Just exactly who does this "public" housing belong to?

If you live in the house that I (the Nanny State) pay for WTF shouldn't you have to hit the bricks at my whim?

Unbeliveable how they became victims of their own devices.  Once given, the resident apparently is "entitled" FOREVER.

To get them out you have to build them a Waterfront home in a highly desireable area that many middle class taxpayers could not afford.

The fleecing continues.....

This is just another example of the socialists that run Maryland attempting their social engineering.  They insist if you just mix these f-ups in with upper middle class that it will bring "diversity" and enrich the community.  Anybody who would oppose that is just a racist and bigot.  It doesn't matter that the lazy f*cks that they transplant into an otherwise good neighborhood destroy the property they live in and subsequently send the property values of their middle class neighbors down the toilet.  How come none of these liberal social engineers throw up some projects in their own neighborhoods, instead of filthying up our neighborhoods?

Furthermore, how come you can leach off the kindness of your fellow citizens, doing nothing all day and get a brand new waterfront home?  There are plenty of people who bust their ass for their whole life and just squeak by who would be able to appreciate a place like that, but they are penalized because they have foolishly chosen to work for a living.

I hate the liberal dipsh*ts who f*ck the rest of us over with boondoggles like this!

You people make me sick.

You know, it's just disgusting that sometimes  YOU PEOPLE get all SELF-RIGHTEOUS about being so much "better" than the poor!

Just because you got LUCKY in life's lottery doesn't mean that poor people are any less deserving of a good home!!

Not ALL poor people are lazy, fat and uneducated you know!!

There are A LOT of people who are trying REAL HARD to make a better life for themselves.

If by giving them a taste of a better life by moving them into better public housing - that might be just the incentive they need to start changing their life for the better.

for example...

Take these women... please

Maryland has great social programs!

Translation: All freeloaders from other states in the area and DC move to MD to get free stuff.

Result: Hard working middle class become over taxed and watch their neighborhoods deteriorate.

Result: Your strong middle and upper income families move out of MD for better neighborhoods, less taxes, and less liberal BS being taught to their children.

Result: With fewer revenues form tax paying citizens, social programs bankrupt the state. State Govt. can then turn to the Fed Govt. and say, 'our people are poor and we have no money for infrastructure, give us more money.'

If the Fed. refuses, then the State can blame the Fed. for all their problems, call then insensitive bigots, and get more Dems elected into Federal offices.

(ya know... sorta like K'aliforni'zkstan did last year with their energy crises)

They know what they are doing and they are pretty crafty at getting what they want.

Yay Maryland!

I'm just terrified that Warner (Clinton's clone) is going to do the same thing in VA!

…sniff… What’s that stench? Oh, the wind must be blowing from the East!
