And they like my business!  I just bought Halo Reach and they gave everybody thought bought it, including me, a $20 Wal Mart gift card!  That's as good as real money.  You don't see gamestop or other businesses doing that, not that I even shopped around...
Seriously, if their .223 ammo prices were better than online prices, I would buy everything at Wal Mart.
Thank you Sam Walton!

Yes... then I would have spent the gift card... not opened Halo (since I don't play video games) and returned halo after spending the gift card...

I bring at least a spare mag while there...

Never know when someone wants to re-create the Luby's Cafeteria Scene at a wal-mart... especially due to the high volume of people there...

The spare mag should get me to the closest exit, or to the Ammo counter (whichever is Closest )

Yes. The protectionist morons who hate Wal-Mart seem to be forgetting one thing...that Wal-Mart is an American company. They buy cheap shit made in foreign countries (by other American companies) and sell it for large profit.

The haters just hate Walmart because the cheap lawn furniture factory or plastic cup molding factory is in China, not Wisconsin. Look at the bigger picture.

I think the haters hate Walmart because they are ignorant.

Sam Walton was not the smartest guy in the world, he learned everything he knew from asking questions and paying attention. Walmart was founded on 1 big idea that greatly affected retail, then when Walmart got in over it's head 1 more idea made Walmart (and their suppliers) one of the most efficient retailers in the world. Finally when things started to calm down they got way to calm and the 3rd idea made Walmart what it is today, a retailing superpower.
ETA: It is ideas like the $20 gift card that make them so successful. Many would think that they lost their asses on selling a game and giving away a gift card. They gave you $20 that you must use in their store, if they can pull a 50% margin then they only spent $10. The gift card is designed to drive foot traffic in the stores, they know you will come back and use it. If they run a $53 average ticket, on 50% margin, then they will make about $21.50 gross margin on each gift card.

Love wal-mart...

Good prices, no fluff...

And they're the only place in the nearest town to where I live, that sells most of the stuff they have...

Other than groceries/pharmacy (Safeway), some simple tools/hardware (Local Ace franchise/lumber yard),  and auto-parts (Autozone/Shucks)...

If you want something (clothes, housewares, electronics) & don't want to drive 30-40min... Wal-Mart is the only choice....

If you want *ANYTHING* after 8PM here (or 5 on the weekend), WalMart is again, the only choice in town...

Nothing wrong with the store.

Large selection, competitive prices, one stop shop

What I don't like is the people there.

Teen boppers, gangbangers, way to many indecisive old people.

I'm in and out and mainly shop around 7am to avoid the people.

I sometimes buy ammo at that one. I don't very often anymore though, I'm not surprised someone was shot in that parking lot, when I walk through there the majority of people I see are welfare leeches and thugs. There's three other Wal-Marts that are as far or even closer to me that are in much better areas so I frequent those a lot more.

I buy groceries and household stuff at Walmart.  You encounter some pretty lamentable people there, but the same is true of GD.  On the other hand, the last time I was there, four or five nicely dressed, well groomed people made eye contact with me, smiled, and said "Good Morning" or some other brief pleasantry.  I also saw one of the most strikingly attractive, forty-ish women I've even seen in my life.  So you do encounter some pretty non-lamentable people there just as happens here.

Um... no.

It's getting pretty common for places to offer pre-order incentives. Some offer exclusive in-game content, but places like Amazon, Best Buy, and Wal-Mart have been known to throw in gift cards as well.

I hate Gamestop because I hate the nerd crowd that would rather go there than a mainstream place. I tolerate it because they're usually the most likely place to have something that is already out of stock at the mainstream joints (particularly big sports titles shortly after release).

As for Wal-Mart, I like the convenience, but I hate trying to shop around all the stupid people who just meander and don't know what they're there to buy. Plus, the Wal-Mart here has a major problem with checkout lines. The checkout people are horrendously slow and that matter is intensified by the customer base consisting of a combination of non-English speakers and penny-pinching white trash. I can't buy ice cream because it's guaranteed to melt before I can leave the store.

I rented Halo back in the day and have played it online on my PC. I enjoyed the game but I didn't get into the whole buying each new game thing (though I did with some other series). I played Halo 3 multiplayer with my cousin and his friends on several occasions. Is the Reach multiplayer pretty consistent with the previous games? I wasn't planning on getting it, but I'm a little burned out on Bad Company 2 after finally unlocking everything (Vietnam is coming soon) and I won't buy MW2 as long as it's still full price... so I'm looking for an alternative FPS and I know the Halo games are usually a safe bet.
