I saw a chair like this today, sitting at a vendors shop.
He said it was out of a passenger train, my guess is that it was from the 1950's. I have googled my ass off looking for the correct name for it. My back sucks. I sat in this thing, and it was SUPER-COMFY! It sat low to the ground. All it would need is a head rest. I may have to go back to that vendor tomorrow, and if I do I will take a photo. Worse comes to worse, I will have one made.  |

The chairs did not belong to the vendor, as he was just rechroming them.
I will have him ask the lady that owns them if she will sell one or two of them. My vendor was under the impression that these chairs were on a passenger train, and the build quality WOULD suggest that they were meant to take a beating. But my God, they are comfortable! |

No, those are "permanent" train seats. The chair I am looking for is meant to be folded-up and stored. LOL...that set up looks to be late 1920's to early 1940's. This chair is at least 1950's, maybe even 1960's, but I doubt the 1970's. ETA: I read the story behind your photo...1960's England...Hmmm... |

Check out Kermit Camping Chair. Looks similar but portable. We have a couple and they are the best portable chairs I have had the pleasure to sit in. here

I have a big one like that, but it nowhere felt as comfy as the one I am trying to find. I mean, this thing was made of heavy-gauge square-tube steel. I thought they were "art chairs" like Eames or something, but found that they were for a commercial passenger train. I will find out more tomorrow if I succeed in STUMPING the brain trust we have here.  |
