I'm serious. It's a 1879 Morgan silver dollar. It's not valuable (other than the silver value) in that it's pretty worn and scratched.

The only catch is that I think it's bad luck. Ever since I've owned it, I've had small (but irritating) runs of bad luck: I haven't published in a year, I've thrown out my back, my fiancee lives 300 miles away, every gun purchase had lead to problems, deer have eaten all my roses ...

So, if there's someone out there who's not superstitious, let me know and I'll mail it to you (I'll pay postage, of course).

I thought about giving it to someone I don't like, but that might lead to bad karma. [:D]

If you think it is bad luck (which I highly doubt), then go ceremoniously throw it into a lake or river and rid yourself of the curse.

I've thought about throwing it away, but I'm superstitious enough to wonder if that would really lift the bad luck.

I've agreed to take DK-Prof's bad luck and replace it with a piece of my excellent luck. I hope that it can swing things his way for a while.

Hey SteyrAUG - good to see you again

I've finally found some kenshi to practice with here in St. Louis - there's a small club on campus now, and we have a probationary membership in the Midwest Kendo Federation.

We've got a shodan and a nidan, and we'll get a sandan this summer. Plus, there's a godan in town who we're trying to convince to come and practice with us.

I guess that was actually good luck, finding them to practice with!
