I've also stayed out of the thread mentioned. Don't get me wrong; I hunt religiously, mostly for the spiritual cleansing it affords, and of course for the meat. I also hunt groundhogs and crow, and if a pigeon flutters within shotgun range while I'm afield, it's going to get shot at. I don't eat any of them, however, and I understand sport hunting/culling fully. Hell, the whole hog hunting thing sounds like a great time to me; I wish I was there with Redgoat, carbine in hand, pistol on my hip. The departure is that I wouldn't have hunted like he did, emptying a mag at a running herd of pigs, because it's not my way. It's Redgoat's, and it's fine, but it's not mine, so therein lies the difference. I wouldn't have said anything to RG, let alone chastise him, but if it's legal and safe, then power to him. Blaze away, RedGoat, and shoot as many as you can, but understand that that's not my style, and I respect it, so long as you respect mine. I just don't have the freezer space for more than one good sized hog, so I'd shoot at only one at a time. Clean kills are more fun for me, because it's more in line with my take on sportsmanship.
Best of luck,
