Thinking of changing things up and moving to a truck platform and was wondering what current owners thought?

ETA - Ended up getting this 2016 PW.  Seems like a good vehicle so far.  Averaged 12mpg driving up hill from NC to VA varying my speed per the break in specifications.

I prefer the simplicity of the older 3G truck in the background. Much less electronic bullshit and better forward close in field of view due to the front end profile, among other things.

The new one rides nice and the 6.4 is an improvement over the 5.7.

Have you had any issues with the new one?  I'm looking at a 2016.  We test drove one this past weekend and liked it a lot.  What is your real world gas mileage like?

The bushings in the manual t-case linkage were too soft, they replaced them and added some retainers. That's about it.

I get a little over 13 with it. If you're worried about gas mileage you shouldn't buy one.

That's going to be a big change going from what I assume is your Jeep in your avatar.  They are huge trucks and you won't be able to offroad it in all of the places you may have taken your jeep.  Tall and a long wheelbase. Jeep trails were usually made by jeeps.

Ive been around Ram trucks my whole life and this truck is already by far my favorite.  I see between 13.5-14.5 mpg.  Noone ever bought a Ram for fuel economy.  I'm still surprised how well it rides.

Do old power wagons count?  This is a pic I keep on the wall in my office. It's my 13y/o son driving his great great grandpas Power Wagon on the farm he'll one day own.

That's correct. I was just curious about the mileage to see how it compares to my JK on 35's.  I currently get 13mpg city and 16 highway.  We still have our Cherokee Trailhawk that will be my trail vehicle.  I'll end up losing access to a couple of trails that no one would run with me anyhow

It is.  I'm quite honestly a bit bored with it.  It's complete overkill for the trails that are nearby except for two.  Our Trailhawk does just fine on the rest and it's quite satisfying to wheel it while the haters watch in disbelief.

It's the only Dodge I would buy.

That's crazy. Learn something new everyday. I always assumed the power wagon could be had with the Cummins.

PW's  a 3/4 ton, but I guess they figure that the Cummins isn't good fit for the truck's intended usage.
Cummins is probably a good bit heavier than a Hemi, too.

Yea, mileage wasn't great but I was all over the place speed wise and this was coming back up the mountain from NC on i77.  I think our old 5.4 F150 averaged about 14 MPG coming up the mountain.  It absolutely kills your mileage.

I don't think i'll be lifting it.  From what i've read 37's will fit with the stock suspension, higher offset wheel, and minimal trimming of the pinch weld underneath the truck and using a heat gun to flatten the plastic inner fender well.  I'm also going to run some sort of rock slider on it.  There's only one manufacturer i've found so far and their prices seems kind of high.  Going to see if any of the local fab shops can do something for me a bit more reasonable.

Granite like mine?  Hard to tell it from black in some light conditions when you take a pic of it.

Need to put the hook on the winch cable.   Go on Amazon and buy the wireless remote for it too as it's a PITA to hook up the wired control in that little space they have in the bumper to access it.

That have the graphics delete done from the factory or did the dealer remove it?  Looks like it was ordered that way, like mine.

Looks like you get the factory spray in bed liner too.

Go to Amazon and order the Dee Zee DZ86917 bed mat or shit will be sliding all over the place back there. It's like 70 some bucks and fits perfectly.

View Quote

Yep mine is granite!  My wife really liked the color so it was an easy sell.  It is a factory graphics delete package as well. Ours didn't have the factory spray in bed line so that will definitely have to be addressed as well.  We never had the bed of our F150 done and it was scratched all to shit, but we used it as a truck.  Hauled everything from furniture to gravel.  Here's what ours came with.

I personally thought they were pretty nice.  They are HID headlights.  Nice and bright.  First factory set i've had since my 06 Mazda 3.
