I live in South FL on a large property with a massive tree overlooking a lake. The tree is home to lots of native blue herons and other birds. I've noticed in the last few years Iguanas are living in the tree and falling down into the lake on a daily basis. I am very concerned they are damaging the nesting areas and messing with the native birds. Should I start killing them? I feel bad killing anything without utilizing the meat, but these are invasive and I know for a fact rare native birds nest in that tree. Thoughts?

I hear they are tasty. Just make sure you prepare it properly.

Where in FL? I love reptiles and wouldn’t mind capturing them for you if your not too far from me.

No, you will need to eat them tree chickens in the coming democrat dystopia.

I had a pet iguana as kid growing up. The thing was a complete asshole. Eat em.

I read that it was open season on them because they're so plentiful.

My first instinct is to say choot 'em, but have you seen the prices on 22LR lately?

Yes but you can’t use a pellet gun. You have to use at least a 30:06 or larger.

I would imagine they are death to millions of nesting birds every year...

Are they not a food source for the birds? I don't know much about them and birds

Iguana-on-a-stick is a well known street food in the wastelands. Maybe give it a try.
Before you start blasting away, I'd check on legality. If legal and safe, then the only question I'd have is what round for Iguana? |

Start???? You should have been killing them all along. I'm guessing the gators will clean them up?

Do you have to kill them or can you capture and sell them? Export the damn things to New York and spread the joy.

I’ll never understand the thought process that makes someone feel bad about killing nuisance animals. Especially invasive species.
Shoot with a pellet gun. Cut them open. Through in lake. Done |

Yup or kiss all your birds goodbye cause they'll eat every egg there

Yes, please kill all that you can.

Quoted: Are they not a food source for the birds? I don't know much about them and birds View Quote You serious? Maybe the baby iguanas are for the bigger herons and hawks or eagles. But iguanas grow quickly and a 3’-5’ lizard isn’t going to have to worry about anything but gators and humans. |

Shoot them, kill them, leave them in the lake for the gators. Problem solved.

Do they eat a lot of bugs? I'll take a few hundred in the spring.

You’re wrong there ace. I once watched an alpha iguana and muscovy duck go face to face over the duck’s eggs. The iguana won and ate the eggs. |
