Yes, I know there is a sub for knives but I see cool shit posted here in GD by people who aren't in the sub then forget what the title of the thread was and then get bored trying to search through every random knife related thread in GD.

This is what I usually carry for long bike rides:

It's a slicy mofo. I think it's S35VN on the new one. That's what my Broken Skull is. Wic has CTS-XHP.

I use mine outdoors a lot in the summer months. The edge has held up well. I've only had to strop it so far.

I only use it on fish, but it works well. I like it better than the ancient rapalla fillet knife that it replaced. I think it was under $30 too.

What they said!

It is rare to see them pop up on the secondary as well. If you do FB you can joing the Emerson Knife Owner's Group or Emerson's Operators and watch for one. If you put out an ISO, sometimes guys watch out for you and tag you if one pops up or your ISO shakes one loose that someone has been sitting on. Generally speaking they are pretty great groups aside from the undying fanboyism (seriously, you can be critical and still love the brand, no need to delete posts in the groups).

The other place for Emerson peeps would appear to be USN, but I still have not figured that shit out.

The Limousin is good stuff. I need to try the WP 10. To me the WP 6 was how you describe the Russell's. Very drinkable but I was not blown away.

I need to try them again side by side. The WP10 was similar to the Russell's but I do like the WP10 better. The Sazerac and Limousin do something different taste wise, not really comparable. I do like them all.

I am still a noob to the ryes but the whistlepig is disappearing and the Limousin in the pic is a new bottle, so have probably drank more Limousin than anything else as far as ryes go.

They have NO idea. Its been a mild January so far. Usually we are going on 30 days below freezing and or 10 to 15 days below zero. And wind sheesh. Nothing but a barb wire fence to stop the Alberta clippers coming through.

If it is hollow ground, I am in. I shouldn't have sold my AD10. I realized that only after they switched over to flat grind. Flat grind on my AD15 was a deal breaker for me, can only imagine it would be on the AD10 and Max too.

Shiiiiiiitttt, I got nothing on you. Bit north or west of here, you get into more serious winter. I got Caribbean living by comparison. Usually warmer by the lake.

I remember driving up to Winnipeg one time to visit a friend, spring as I recall. Huge open expanses all around, far as the eye could see. The wind was insane, nothing to stop it. It wasn't even winter, and it wasn't even cold, just biting wind.

Have some whiskey and stay warm buddy.

Just for sake of reference...
What is the definition of "proper cold"?
I've never really been in truly fucking awful cold. The coldest temp I've been in (working) was -10F with a wind chill that was supposed to bring it down to -20.
That was referred to as "booger fuckin cold" and nobody was happy.
I realize that you guys up north get some truly fucking awful cold which I would define as lower than -15F without windchill.
But I'm just a southerner, what would I know about cold.

The coldest I've seen it here (NW Iowa) was -24 when driving in to work a few years ago. When I was a kid with my dad (auctioneer) doing an auction somewhere in ND, I forget where, it was -30. In the afternoon. With high wind. That was brutal.

I remember another time, several years ago, sitting in a treestand deer hunting in early January, and by the end of "shooting time" I was fucking cold. According to the truck driving out, the temp was -15. That's too damn cold to be sitting still up in a tree.
