Was curious what it would actually take to stop one and stumbled on this article.

Not sure what the bad guys have tried in the sandbox, but it would seem while paintball and pudding could be an option, launching balloons filled with vasoline might also be useful but that's for taking away the driver's sight, not actually disabling the vehicle.

Truth be told, I'm just curious what it'd take to physically stop one.  Would a 7.62 to the tires do it?  API/MK211 to the engine block?

Thanks

Have a local police dept get one and wonder why nothing has been done to it in years.

That fucks them right up

There's YouTube videos of people shooting them.  API .50 cal penetrates the side armor.  Would probably take multiple rounds to disable the engine, just guessing.  Best bet would probably be to lure it off road and then tip it over.

Probably has to do with fear the walking dead's last episode where they stole the MRAP.

Considering the current climate and number of Sheriff departments that have these, it stands to reason ISIS might not be the type of “freedom” fighter that could benefit from this info.

I remember seeing a documentary where a primitive race of bear-like creatures crushed large armored vehicles between logs dropped from trees. You should try that, first.

Kinda surprised they can't withstand .50 cal fire.  Wonder if that was a light skinned version?

And screw not talking about it - Police agencies have these things all across America, and I'm sure we'd see Feds using them in any future Waco-style standoffs/assorted acts of tyranny.

If it’s stationary you could pretty easily take a wrench and crack the brake lines open on all 4 wheels. Could also take the drain plug out of oil pan.

Mraps are just  v-hauled, armored short busses.
I spent a year as a driver/gunner on one.
Poor maintenance and using the wrong POL will mess them up to.

I was actually pretty curious about that.  certainly with enough explosives, you could disable it.

Think roadrunner and wiley coyote stuff.

Roadsign pointing to Albuquerque that just goes off into the soft clay of the springtime desert,

Acme brand MRAP trap (looks like a giant bear trap)

Big old hole in the ground,

4000 pound anvil dropped from the sky square on the engine compartment,

Big enuff pile of dynamite,

Etc.

You're not wrong though, we had one lose a front wheel on Tampa because of a maintenance issue.  It stopped.

I took a photo driving by, didn't see until later the giant penis drawn in dust on the back door.

A chainsaw and a decently sized tree near the road.

Those things can get stuck in a gravel parking lot, so they can't really maneuver around obstacles well.
