BREAKING: Judge says the White House “must provide due process if they are to revoke Mr. Acosta’s hard pass."
ETA: The decision was based on existing case law: Robert Sherrill v. H. Stuart Knight, Director, United States Secret Service, Etal., Appellants, 569 F.2d 124 (D.C. Cir. 1977) More info: The code of federal regulations that now guides the White House press pass process states that "In granting or denying a request for a security clearance made in response to an application for a White House press pass, officials of the Secret Service will be guided solely by the principle of whether the applicant presents a potential source of physical danger to the President and/or the family of the President so serious as to justify his or her exclusion from White House press privileges." The White House never claimed Acosta was a security threat. Basically the government did not abide by their own rules. The many different reasons the White House gave in the days following did not abide by their own rules. ----Based on all the purse swinging, this seems to define the issue for GD: Quoted: If the WH wants to revoke certain press credentials then they have to go through certain steps to do so. Trump didn't do so and the courts, who are based on established case law, said they he had to do so. This isn't rocket science. |

Due process how? Like he needs to have a hearing before they can throw him out?
"repeated and consistently rude behavior"
Done. fuck off Acosta. |
Just give him his press pass back and tell him he can't ask questions. Is the judge then going to order trump to answer his questions?
If he yells have him arrested for disorderly conduct |
I thought this was a good judge? Wasn't he supposed to be a ringer or something?
Unlikely?
The fucking video SHOWS him touching her and her arm being forced down. Fucking judges, they're a cancer on this nation. Black robed cocksuckers, given way to much power. |
How does he - or anyone else - have a right to a press Pass?

What kind of due process?
They aren't putting him in jail without a trial. They took away his pass. If go to my parking attendant and start smacking him he will take away my parking pass as well. I think they did the right thing by not banning CNN and instead dealing with the individual who violated the rules and was aggressive towards a white house employee, within feet of the president. If he can hit an innocent intern doing her job whats to say he doesn't snap one day and rush the podium and do the same to the president. Hes a liability to CNN and tot his nation. CNN should have fired him. If a fox news worker did that to Obama the left would have demanded he be removed from his position. |
Hopefully they will appeal this all the way to the Supreme Court, if necessary. That should take care of his "due process" rights to a White House press pass. A federal judge requiring a "press pass" for an agitator/activist/editorialist who can still apply for a general pass to get into the White House? That's a bunch of BS and it's not as if the White House has denied all Communist News Network's so-called "reporters" access to the White House.
Why does any one reporter from any network have guaranteed access to White House briefings?
If CNN wants to send another reporter, fine. Trump shouldn't have to provide access to a particular reporter. |
This could take years, in the mean time, since it's in litigation, Trump's hands are tied, and no "hard pass" for Acousta.
Anyone else feel this will only embolden the little douche to be more of a disrespectful ass. President Trump should just ignore every question Acosta tries to pose and if he tries the bully BS again toss him out and pull his pass again.
Simple. Stop having press conferences. Have a televised statement instead. If the press wants to ask questions they can get on whitehouse.gov like the rest of us peons.

Does this mean that they also cannot deny issuance of a press pass without due process? So anyone can get one?
In New America all branches of the government just make shit up as they go now.

"I like taking guns away early. Take the guns first, go through due process second." -Trump
So, that appears to be the preferred sequence. |

Acosta got his press pass back at least temporarily

Just stop doing to press conferences. Problem solved. Dont play stupid games with little children.
Well, I would imagine that to re-issue a hard pass, the recipient must, of course, go through the full background check process.
Who knows how long that could take? Interviews, paperwork, the whole deal. |
