I probably put my last quarter in a real arcade game at Barnacle Bills arcade in Seaside heights NJ August 1997. It was most likely Super offroad.
ETA. We actually bought a Super Offroad arcade game many years after that. But we always used the free game button ?? |

There's a retrocade pretty close to my house.
Arcades were before my time, with unless you count Chuck E Cheese's. |

I got kicked out of an arcade in New York when I was nine for being too good at several of the games.
Apparently I pissed off some of the teenagers that spent a lot of money in there and they were going to stop coming because of me. The owner kicked me out and accused me of stealing quarters from my dad's bar and cheating by having unlimited practice time. My dad told the guy he gave me two rolls of quarters every day that summer and to go out and have fun (true). Then he put two popular arcade games in his bar and had them set up to be free. The other guy lost a bunch of money. |

Probably in the 80's for me. Playing a tabletop Ms. packman with then girlfriend (now wife) waiting on laundry at the laundry mat.

God I miss those days. Space Harrier, Cyberball, Street Fighter games, Mortal Kombat games and so many others.
The "games" they have now suck. |

Just emulate.

I miss the arcade in New Smyrna Beach Florida. We would pay for a round of putt-putt golf just to go hang out on the roof and smoke one,
|
|
Sunk no telling how many quarters into Wizard of Wor, Defender, Missile Command, Q*Bert and Tempest games. The arcade at Dale Hollow Dam near my home growing up was a steady hang out when I was a teen in the late '70s/early '80s

Take Ten in the mall took ALL my cash. Not some, Not half, ALL my cash. Roadblasters, Battlezone, Time Pilot, Out Run, Dig Dug, Zaxxon and Donkey Kong

Tilt arcade in ballston commons
From 1987 thru 2000 ( age 12 thru 25 ) Whenever we went to the mall we would stop there and play about 5.00 in quarters after work or getting a late night bite Good times I'd love to go tk the galloping ghost arcade in Illinois once 400 games https://www.gallopingghostarcade.com/games-list/ |

Black tiger
elevator action Star wars Afterburner tons of others. |

1992 or so, there was a dinasaur fighting game. Kimd of like Mortal Combat but with dino's. Man it was state of the art! My favorite character was Vertigo. Just can't remember the name of the game. I dropped many rolls of quarters into that machine.

Born in '75...
I remember as a kid, riding my bike 6 miles to Flipper Flapper at the mall for the Early Bird Special; 20 tokens for $2.50. I'd spend an hour or two there and hit Mickey Ds on the way home for a Happy Meal. $5 was a good time... Bally's arcade in Vegas when the family made a trip, was fucking awesome. My parents would give my brother and I each $100 bucks, while they went and gambled. The last time I was at an arcade was when D&B first came out. At $2.00 a play; I was over the arcade |
|
We had a place in the 90’s down the street called WonderLand - you pay like $5.00 to get in, and then it was all nickel games. Kicked ass.

|
I cannot remember which version exactly but I put a lot of quarters into Time Crisis as a teen.

View Quote YES! I would buy that game console if I could reasonably get it up here! Those were good times! |

Tekken 2 was the last one I can remember being really good at the Arcade. 1995. The Playstation put the final nail in the coffin for Arcade games.
|
|
Spent way too many quarters & hours with Asteroids, Battle Zone, Joust, Faxon, Tempest & my favorite Missile Command.
Good times at the Arcade! Bigger_Hammer |

Naw, it just led to having a full size cabinet in my living room. Of course I can get the quarters out anytime since I own it. Problem is now I'm looking for companion cabinets.

|
Galaga, Pole Position, DigDug, 1942, Ms. PacMan, Tron and Moon Patrol.
|
|
I remember when Dragon's Lair came to Show Biz Pizza and they had to put a 2nd monitor on top of the game so all the people astounded by the graphics crowded around the game could see it
|
|
I think the last one I played was Donkey Kong back in the mid '80s.
|
|
I never got into those back then. I was more interested in the Tandy Model 4 we had at work. Oh! the sweet joys of saving games to cassette decks! |
|
There's a coin operated Pac-Man/Galaga game in my local bar I drop a couple quarters in now and again.

I remember when they put in the projection tv with Street fighter 2 on it and the line was 8 deep to play. Saw Terminator 2 at the spartan triplex and played a bunch of pool and pinball at Holiday lanes too. Small world. |

Few local arcade bars where you can go in and play for free now while having a beer

Probably 1995 or 96 for me.. Most likely the Dig Dug machine at the skating rink... Or the TMNT machine at walmart. Fkn loved both of those

The last time I was at an arcade had to be around 1990. Junior in HS.
Those were good days. |

Lethal Enforcers was my favorite back before I could own a real gun. I can still hear the criminal yell, ‘Can’t kill me, copper!!!’ I played that one a bunch.
Silent Scope was pretty good too. One of the arcades had a Steel Challenge game and the guns had optics with fiber optic sights. That was a fun game too. |

Arcades are alive & well in Utah; one reason why I enjoy traveling there:
Nickelmania Nickel City Quarters Arcade Bar |

So much, that I got it for my PS2 Then when I would randomly see it at an arcade, I could get through the entire 1st level on the initial start price |
