We are eating at 12. They were all told. My wife busted her ass to have everything ready for 12.
Ten after and no one is fucking here. 3 brothers and their families, parents.... No one. Glad I started drinking at 9 |

This is the first thanksgiving it will just be my wife and seven little kids.
Have never been happier. |

You eat dinner at noon?
I would be fine if you didn't wait for me and ate without me. I don't want to eat dinner in the middle of the day. |
|
|
That's a douche move. It's not a fucking cocktail party, where fashionably late is expected.

Yeah, that shit would piss me off. I’d start eating. But my fam knows that. We eat at 2, means I eat at 2 - whether or not you’re here
|
|
At that time I'm still drinking my morning coffee on Thanksgiving day
That's really early |

Something tells me OP's drinking is going to lead to a memorable gathering for all.
OP, if you're coherent at around 6 o'clock, please let us know what transpired. |
|
That's what in-laws are for, to piss you off.
Although, noon is way early. |

Drinking at 9 …Holy crap Op .
Happy Thanksgiving . Ps . Isn’t that what in-laws r supposed tp do . Piss us off . |

I tell people food will be done between 1-2. Grazing starts whenever you want something.
No formal sitting down. Show up whenever. My house my food. Happy Thanksgiving |
|
What the in laws are doing is not cool.
But dinner at noon? What do you celebrate Christmas on December 1st? |
|
In laws and extended family usually suck. Glad I never married

And, yes, it's OK to have Thanksgiving at noon. We used to do it all the time. Not this year, however. This year, it's at 4:00 because.....reasons I won't go into. And in this family, if you aren't there at the agreed-upon time, then everyone else starts eating and you'll just have to try and catch up. We don't wait. Too bad, so sad. Some may say that's an asshole thing to do. But I think the asshole thing to do is NOT be there at the time you were told to be there (emergencies and other unforeseen circumstances notwithstanding). |

Bride just said "Oh yeah I heard of people eating at noon because many have other in-laws to go to later so it makes sense"
SHIT! I hate when she brings up valid points |

View Quote I am perfectly fine if that means you already ate by the time I got there. The host being upset about that though, would be up to them, I don't care. I didn't suddenly become their weird middle of the day feast puppet, because they invited me. |

I'm sick...so no in-laws for me this year.
They're eating at 1, but that's so folks who have other family can go visit them as well. Ima put a dent in some egg nog and Jack while the family is gone. |

I used to do tailgates where we'd crack the first beer at sunrise, never had a problem lasting the day. Now, I wasn't closing the bars out at 2am, but would make it thru dinner time. |

View Quote Attached File Look out for the party police! OP, sounds like your in-laws are more concerned about what they want than the family. I get it, some of mine are the same way. I love hosting- I make way better food that people actually want to eat, I set the time you may arrive and the time it is over. Works out great - everyone gets out when we want them out, I don't have to eat shitty food made just the way one picky eater wants it with organic vegan bullshit, and I don't have to travel. Adopt this mindset and let the morons sort themselves out. |

Dinner at noon? Who the fuck does that? That's brunch not Thanksgiving dinner.
|

My inlaws used to piss me off too. But not anymore since I divorced my wife..
|
|
We tell people an hour before we actually start because a number of them are always late.
|
|
Every time we have people over, it's the same story, OP. Thankfully, this year it's just immediate family.
