Yes, I know there is a sub for knives but I see cool shit posted here in GD by people who aren't in the sub then forget what the title of the thread was and then get bored trying to search through every random knife related thread in GD.

This is what I usually carry for long bike rides:

Muskmelon or cantaloupe?  Different melons? regional difference?

I grew up with everyone calling them cantaloupe.

It's more like a German Schnapps, but distilled from the grape skins at the winery we were at. Has a bite to it. Have to have some more shipped over. My Son in Law had the last of it tonight. We need to stock up on their Chianti and will probably get some balsamics also. Really good and reminds us of our vacation there.

Cantaloupes, honeydew, and Persian melons all fall under this category. This means there is actually no real difference between cantaloupe, perhaps one of the most commonly sold types of melons, and muskmelon. Rather, cantaloupe is a specific type of muskmelon, one with a thick rind and a tender, pleasantly sweet orange flesh.

Stopped for gas today on the way down south and a Ferrari was pulled in gassing up. Three more arrived by the time we were done filling - asked us for some directions. It was cool they were just out and about getting used.

My dad used to own a small plane in a partnership with 4 other guys. They billed themselves a set amount per hour on the meter to cover maintenance, inspections, overhauls (required every X number of hours), fuel, etc. I wonder what the cost per hour is for a Ferrari if you were to build all that in.

Basis for that supposition?

I'm not disagreeing, I would just be a bit surprised.

Exor/FCA/Stellantis holds the largest non public stake in Ferrari at about 23%, so not sure what the connection would be to Volvo, which is owned Zhejiang Geely Holding Group of China.

$50-60 an hour, depending on the model, more if less frequently used by the partners.

Only thing in recent memory was his stunt with free t-shirts at Blade Show.

Greg had t-shirts made with a stereotypical depiction of a chinaman offering a Medford looking knife with some text bubble saying something about buying knockoffs or text saying don't buy chi-knockoffs

A number of attendants at BladeShow took offense to this, kicked up some dust. KnifeCenter dropped Medford as a vendor.

Nothing much more than that that I am aware of.

My recollection was that the shirt was culturally insensitive, but unless you are a jumped up loud mouth karen that screams political correctness, it was a non event.

It was Greg being Greg. Off kilter humor and socio-economic critique. The guy shoots his mouth off even when he has no clue what he is talking about and doesn't give a fuck what anyone else thinks.

He has admittedly had more issues with the Chinese copying his designs than perhaps any other knife maker besides CRK. The reason his pivots are always changing is in an effort to slow down the cloning of his products.

He is passionate about what he does, everything he does. I respect that. I wish more people were passionate about what they do. He does good work, stands behind his products and takes care of people.

Do I agree with him all the time or see him as a role model? Hell no.

But this "event" didn't even move the needle on the fuckometer for me.

I'm not sure when that changed. When Ford sold them, I thought they went to an Indian holding group. I think they are still made in Sweden in large part, but they have been owned by overseas companies for years. Maybe 2 decades?

I'm actually looking at maybe getting some of them. I want to try some of the smaller size cigars.  I'm a big ring gauge guy, but sometimes want something that smokes a bit quicker. Especially in winter.

I love small ring gauge. Lancero and petite corona are my favorite sizes, then corona for a mid size, and a proper Churchill (48) for a large cigar. Not a big fan of robustos and toros; they're ok but at the upper limit and I'd generally prefer a narrower stick. Anything over 50 just feels awkward to me.

Big Fuente fan but I haven't actually tried any of their short fillers. A lot of small Cubans that fit the bill and are remarkably affordable relative to their larger vitolas. Among those the H. Upmann half corona rises to the top for a quick winter smoke though. Two on the top left -
