They contend that Wal-Mart had not properly trained its employees to ask the right questions of prospective gun buyers. Right Questions ? The only thing the clerk did was ask him to fill out a short form. ATF Form 4473 She also said a store manager reviewed Lott's gun registration form before completing the sale. A good thing "They want to hold Wal-Mart to the standard, plus something," she said. Sounds to me like an open and shut case of going for the deep pocket(s). |

And on the other hand if today someone went into the same Wal-Mart to buy a gun and was tunred down because of how they were "acting". Those same lawyers would be suing Wal-Mart for discrimination.

Exactly. There is no way to please people who are determined to find fault. They're not looking to find fault. They're looking to find money. |

"They want to hold Wal-Mart to the standard Wouldn't the standard be compliance with federal statutes? If this one makes it, the gun world may be in big trouble! Now if this guy walked into the store in his underwear and sandals, then the store might be negligent. However, in 1992, there was nothing that said a gun dealer had to be a psychologist (nor does it now for clarification). It would sicken me to see this one get anything but a settlement for $10,000. Its a garbage suit. |
