I heard somewhere that you can ship a rifle or shotgun within your own state without the use of an FFL...is that true?

It is perfectly legal as far as Federal law is concerned.  State laws may vary.

Yes, for rifles and shotguns, you can. I've shipped several longarms straight to individual's doorsteps within Texas.


And this doesnt require me to be an FFL?

Type of firearm doesn't matter.  Handguns can be shipped also.

No  FFL required.

Type of firearm doesn't matter.  Handguns can be shipped also.  

 But not through the USPS.  Need FFL on both ends to use them for handguns.
