My neighbor gave me an old vice he had the other day.  I figured I could use it, but man was it UGLY.  It was covered with a layer of sticky grime, and a little rusty in places.  I thought maybe I could clean it up a bit before I mounted it on a bench, so I washed it down with engine degreaser then sanded it down a bit.  Then I decided to start taking pictures:

Then a little primer...

A little paint...

And it's good to go!

I'll bet if my neighbor sees it now he'll want it back!

Be E A utiful!  Looks like an OLD AMERICAN made vise.  Brings a tear to the eye when you think of all the vises made in foreign countries now.  I dream of the day when I have the disposable income to build a huge stout bench and throw an honest to god, American made vise that can take ANYTHING.

Nice job. Nothing like getting something for free, and making it look great.
