One of the burners on my glasstop kenmore stove is not working. Are the a pain to replace?
|
|
My Bosch Nexxt 300 washer motor control board seems to be going out according to my online guided troubleshooting. It has spin problems and must be turned completely off and then back on to do a oad correctly.
It's at least 7 years old, is it worth the $200 or so bucks to fix it? Thanks. |
|
Clothes Dryer stopped working. Its got the burnt electrical smell. I cleaned all the fuzz out, set her up in the garage and when i turn it on it just makes a soft humming sound - but no turning or drying.
Busted? |

I would also like to know. Also if you had to replace a front loading washer and dryer what brand would you go with? |

This thread will be endless.
Which appliances do you repair most often? Is there a more reliable brand? What is the most common single cause of malfunction? |
|
I just bypassed the check switch for the lid switch on our Maytag. Are we going to die?

What's the nastiest thing you have found lodged in an appliance?
(For me, it was a dead and half-cooked chipmunk in a dryer.)
|
|
What is the most reliable mid capacity front load washer currently available?

When to write off an older appliance....when it's smarter to replace than repair? When the repair exceeds 25%, 50%, etc. of a new replacement? Is it based on age and cost?

Did you activate the diagnostic mode & recall the stored error codes? If it is the board it is not worth fixing. Bosch is one of the only manufacturers I refuse to work on. |

I've been nothing but satisfied with my Bosch tools and appliances. (I realize a simpler washer would last longer, but for the use and quality of cleaning I was happy with my washer.) |

It was installed as a safety device for people that don't have enough sense to stick there hand in the washer while spinning. Won't die but maybe a broken arm if you stick your arm in there while it is spinning. |

How do you get the smell of cat piss out of a dryer???
Seriously. |

My wife's vibrator is draining batteries too fast, is there a good natural gas or electric model that would save me the money and hassle

Whirlpool frig.
The water supply line for the ice maker keeps freezing towards the bottom of the frig. Repair man came out and moved line but it still freezes and we cannot use the water filler feature or ice cube maker. Frig is a year old. Can I just insulate the line or move it again? |

Bosch washers are designed to last 5-8 years if yours is 7 it would not be worth replacing the board if that is the problem. Do not buy nothing unless you are 100% sure it is the mcu. There are 3 diffrent boards on your washer. So unless you recall the stored error codes you are pissing in the wind. |

If you are talking about the water storage tank in the bottom of the refrigerator section behind the crisper draws I would bypass it & install a inline filter. You can buy a inline filter for $10 a lot cheaper than the $50 factory filter. That is what I did to my brand new refrigerator that had nothing wrong with it because I did not want to pay $50 every 6 months to replace the factory filter. |

Maybe that is why I have been doing so many bent lids not activating the lid switch lately. |

Why the hell do they make it so hard to put a new leather belt on a dryer drum.
It looked like I got into a fight with a rabid puma last time I changed that 4 dollar belt maybe a LITTLE more space would make it easier. |

Does everything still weigh about 10 times as much as it looks when you need to move it?

No wonder why people don't trust us. It's obvious he has an issue with temperature. Has NOTHING to do with filtration. Duckbutter, You are still under warranty? YES, stay on their ass and get that resolved. If you are under warranty, DO NOT alter your unit in any way. DO NOT give them an excuse to say you are to blame ok? |

Thanks ar15m16556 for this useful post. I'm blessed with a great local person who is in your business, he kept my 8 year old side by side going by replacing a $10 temp control switch about 3 years ago. More $$$ to spend on fun stuff. regards

Do you have a multi meter? yes i do Unplug unit or turn the breaker off then Open the door and there will be 2 screws going up into the cooktop right at the front ledge where the older stoves used to have the lock handle. Usually there is 4 but only 2 needs removed to raise the top. Once the two screws are removed the top will raise up with the back hinging up. Set your meter to ohms & touch both big wires & see if it ohms out. There will be several wires going to the burner but 2 wires should be bigger then the rest, those two are the ones you want to ohm out. To confirm you are doing it right check a good burner. |

I have an old Frigidaire Gallery combo washer/dryer, the dryer has been making a loud scraping sound towards the end of the dry cycle, and occasionally we have had a problem with clothes being pinched between the moving barrel of the dryer and the non-moving door frame, which basically ruins whatever is caught.
Any idea what needs to be replaced and how involved a repair it will be? |
|
Lg dryer has a broken weld on the drum. Makes a horrible noise. How big of a pain in the ass are these to replace? Lg customer service is less than helpful.

Go ahead and spend hundreds replacing the mechanical temp control or electronic control & temp sensor & I bet you will still have the problem. If it were a temp problem then everything in the refrigerator section would freeze. It is a design defect that whirlpool is know for, you can replace every part on the refrigerator & it will not fix it. Your only option is two bypass it. All the ones I have done were electronic controlled and whirlpool replaced the controls and temp sensor on all 3 & guess what? It did not work. I gave the customer the option to have whirlpool try to fix it AGAIN or let me bypass it & all chose to let me bypass it except 1 & they called back 6 months later after they got tryed of fucking with whirlpool & let me bypass it. You have 2 options Leave it alone & you won't have any ice or water Or bypass it & it will work. I can not redesign the unit to circulate the air in the refrigerator section better because that is the problem. If that is his problem to begin with. He has not confirmed that was his problem. Every one I have bypassed were requested by the customer to bypass it, I did not do it behind there back. All were VERY happy that I got it working for $0 in parts. None of them were willing to pay hundreds for a new motherboard & temp sensor because they already knew that would not work & they could get it fixed for $0. |

I have about an 8 year old Danby compact dishwasher that apparently has a dead timer. Can this be fixed or replaced or am I stuck buying a new dishwasher?

Whirlpool icemaker stopped working… I would rather diagnose the problem and fix it instead of just blindly replace all the components. How do I go about this? This is the kind I have and thanks in advance. http://i.imgur.com/nw3B4fy.jpg Pull the cover off & see if the gear is broken off. If not I will tell you how to jump the ice maker to check the valve. |

Do you have women come on to you like in the porn movies?
Oh wait, that's plumbers.......Never mind. |

As someone who's about to buy some stuff...
Looking at a Samsung top load HE washer and dryer and Bosch dishwasher. What do you have to work on the least when it comes to washer/dryer/dishwasher? (brand wise) |
|
I replaced all of the thermistors on my GE Arctica (PSS26NSTD) because the fridge wouldn't cool correctly and the coil kept freezing over. It is still having similar problems, but seems to correct itself if I defrost it for a few days.
Do I still have bad thermistors or a bad motherboard (problem with these models)? Also, you should know that this fridge is kept in the garage. Here is an indepth thread with pics and history: Link to Appliantology thread |
