Been a snake nerd since my Dad got me an Eastern Hognose from the side of the road when I was 7. Only one of two jet black Hognoses I've ever seen.

That's a huge retic! How is it's temperament? That's what has always made me leery about retics...

I had boas and pythons as a teenager, but now I really did big colubrids.

My big Beauty Snake fucking up a rat. I just lost him a couple of months ago. Crazy history with that snake. |
|
When I was married to my ex I had a step son. I thought "what did I like to do with my Dad when I was his age?" I liked doing snake stuff with my Dad. So I got him a corn snake, and I got a tiny little hatchling beauty snake shipped to me. Showed up in a little sack inside a cardboard box. The ex never really liked it. When my marriage started to fail she knew I'd do anything to keep working on things. She told me to get rid of our snakes.
I took them to the Phoenix Herpetological Society. Fast forward a year later: I'm divorced and in my own house. I wondered if they still had him. I knew it was a long shot, but I called and asked. They did! I had to pay $25 for every month that they had him. I wrote the check out with a quickness. Took care of him for ten more years before he passed. |

What is it with you Arizonans and snakes?
We have two dudes from Kingman working at the shop who are way into them, including one of them keeping hots. I like snakes, I've admired them since I was a kid and had a kingsnake for a pet, but I just don't get those guys. |

HORRIBLE pic (through my screen door with my shitty phone camera) but I caught this little Sonoran gopher snake crawling into my wood pile. |

These belong to my daughter. Reptiles don't do much for me.
Timmy ate last night, so we left him alone. These are older pics: Attached File We cleaned out Nalia's cage, and then took her with us to a local park while we walked the trails. Get her some vitamin D. Did our best to hide her from the other walkers. Attached File |

Here are 4 of the sneks my daughter has caught so far this year:
Vicious little Dekay's Brown snek. Very scary. Attached File Really nice king snek that I found, and she just had to handle. We were at the church's campground with her AHG Troop. She moved the snek away from the bathroom so the other girls wouldn't be so freaked out. Attached File Nice Ring neck she found on a friend's farm: Attached File Attached File Rat snek at the same farm same weekend: Attached File |

Wow! Great pics! I miss the wildlife in Georgia! From the black rat snake pic I'm guessing you're up north?

Saphira was really defensive when we first got her, and even now I have to be wary about getting her out of her enclosure. She's defensive, not aggressive, but will still give you a love tap if you don't treat her with respect and tact. |

He was right under my rear bumper. i ended up putting a leaf over him so the birds and cats wouldn't see him when I moved my truck. He was only a couple feet away from the grass. He was actually pretty feisty, which was pretty funny. I wish I'd taken a video. Attached File |

Quoted: Friend's farm is ~ 1/2 way between Macon and Atlanta, and a bit west. They were re-arranging the chicken enclosure when they found the snakes. She said the black snake looked like it had been pecked on. Fortunately she found the ringneck before the chickens did. She relocated both to the nearby woods. We live in Gwinnett. We see plenty of Dekays in the yard. The King was found in Gwinnett as well. I almost stepped on this little guy on my way to work a couple weeks ago. Meet Stewie! He is a male Bredli carpet python. I think if I'd gotten him first I never would have gotten a ball python.
Stewie is a nice size at 5 feet but thin, not flighty, easily handled, good food response without concerns about your hand being mistaken for a meal, and he's active in the evenings when we're home. Being semi-arboreal in a large enclosure with lots of stuff for climbing, he also poses for the camera. Attached File |

Wow. Hopefully it's just an escapee - colubrids are good at that - and not from someone who dumped a bunch of snakes because he didn't want them any more.
I'd consider having a vet run a fecal on it. If it ate wild mice it could have picked up a parasite. |

View Quote Oh wow. Those are beautiful! I've neglected this thread. Sorry ya'll. The little Indigo is finally ravenous with it's feeding. Ate three fuzzies this afternoon and probably would have eaten more. He's probably doubled in size since I got him six months ago. |

@Ramsey118 what area of Georgia are you in? I grew up in Waycross.

Looked for one of these for almost a decade when I was growing up in Southeast Georgia. Swear I looked in every gopher tortoise burrow. Lol!
