The first year or two it is a ton. My girl doesn't eat any more than a lab. They are not incredibly active dogs so they don't burn that many calories. The expensive part is the vet bills. They get double doses of everything. Heartworm and flea medicine makes me go broke. |

My buddy had one, and his name was Otis.. He was a sweet boy, but unfortunately he didn't live very long...

I had a Brindle EM girl
We rescued her. Her original owners thought a puppy should be able to spend 16-18 hours a day in the house without 1) having accidents, 2) being destructive, 3) having food issues, 4) and have no social issues When we got her she was about 120 pounds and had a terrible case of the worms (found it out when she started puking out what looked like rottini noodles until they began to squirm). She had incontinence issues from her spay and was the most timid dog ever. She didnt move for the first 3 days she came home, wouldnt get up to eat or drink. It took a lot of work, but she was a damn good dog. |

Another thing, clean the water and food dishes every other day and use stainless steel. If you don't, they tend to get pimples all over their mouths that bleed pretty good.

Anyone have any recommendations for a Mastiff breeder in the south east or maybe even Georgia? A breeder who has dams and sires with health certs is a major plus.

After our boxer passed in December we where looking into mastiffs.. we also looked into " daniffs" .. mastiff/dane cross..but could not find any pups at the time.. I would have loved a mastiff but the scary part is they are huge and huge dogs do not live a very long life... I hate losing animals. I know its part of it :(
