Thanks for looking.
I'm looking to replace my 20 year old Yamaha/Nakamichi seperates system with something physically smaller and able to do the new Dolby EX, Prologic II, and DTS decoding while adding some digital video handling options. My budget isn't really a concern as long as I get good bang for the bucks and I've pretty much been looking over receivers running $1000 to $4000 and my eyes have glazed over and I'm having a big problem determining what is of value. THX Ultra 2 would be nice but the Dolby EX is a need.
I've got four pairs beautiful old Infinity Reference Standard speakers and a VMPS large subwoofer which are going to hold me over until they get replaced. The only things I'm going to keep is a 62" JVC LCoC 1080p rear screen HDTV and an OPPO DVD player with it's rather fine video processing chips.
The room is a rather odd shaped room that's rather hard/live so I'm going to be happy with 80 watts per channel and up easy. This is more for video than for audio.
So what do you suggest I look at from the likes of Denon, Pioneer, Yamaha, B&K, Integra ....?
