NOTE:  For purposes of the poll, please post your OTHER answers below in the thread.   If any OTHER films get mentioned as much as/more than the ones above I will post something to that effect in this initial post.

Yes, I realize it isn't even quite Thanksgiving yet...  but if the retailers can start their marketing blitz this early, I figure I can do likewise with my Christmas movie thread(s).

This is the "Contemporary Christmas Movie" thread - I also have a "Classic Christmas Movie" thread HERE.

For the purposes of this thread, please limit yourself to movies released during or after 1960.  (Earlier films go in the other thread.)

A Christmas Story is the only good one as far as I'm concerned.

Haven't seen Elf and plan not to.

Badder Santa was shameful... or shameless. Hardly a Christmas movie. Might as well lump "Reindeer Games" in there with that one.

What are the other options? Christmas with the Kranks (or the other Tim Allen Christmas trash... The Santa Claus). Or how about Surviving Christmas... another Ben Affleck Christmas gem.

Or spin back in time a little further and go with Santa Claus with Dudley Moore. There are so many great choices.

Haven't seen Polar Express... could that be a possible choice?

I'm kinda partial to "Nightmare Before Christmas" myself.

"Gremlins" qualifies as a Christmas movie also if "Die Hard" does.....

The Ice Harvest.
Pretty good Christmas comedy about strippers, hot, unfaithful wives and dysfunctional families.

A Christmas Story, hands down.

I just watched The Polar Express and it was quite a pleasant surprise, well exceeding my meager expectations. I wouldn't be surprised if it becomes the next Cult Christmas Classic. The newly released IMAX 3D version is supposed to be just spectacular.

I have a few movies I watch religiously during Christmas with my sister.

Ralphie and A Christmas Story (You'll shoot your eye out!!!!!)

Better Off Dead w/John Cussack  (You know, CHRIST-MAS!)

The original Grinch cartoon (because he's a mean one)

And Christmas Vacation. ( Gotta love Schnottz)

They are a must watch list.

A new recent addition is a Bloom County knock off with Opus called

"A Wish For Wings That Work."

I'll be starting that list tonight.

My only Christmas movies are Die Hard, Die Hard 2, Gremlins and The Nightmare Before Christmas (which also doubles as a Halloween movie).

Yes! I don't care what anyone says, Die Hard IS a Christmas movie!

But "A Christmas Story" is still a bit better, since it's admittedly a lot more Christmas-relevant.

A Christmas Story (1983)

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (1989)

"If that cat had nine lives Clark, he just used 'em all."

My neighbor down the street does all-out decorations on his house every year, including a mailbox with "Clark Griswold" painted on it.

... we're gonna have the hap-, hap-, happiest Christmas since Bing Crosby tap-danced with Danny ****ing Kaye!

Die Hard, of course.

No fans of Home Alone? (came out when I was 10, but I still think it's funny....even though Macaulay Culkin grew up into an asshat who hung out with MJ)
