Dad's was Ravel's Bolero.

I'd like to have the first part of Peter Gabriel's "I Grieve", then Elton John's "Song for Guy"

I Grieve:
It was only one hour ago
It was all so different then
Nothing yet has really sunk in
Looks like it always did
This flesh and bone
is just the way that we are tied in
But there's no one home
I grieve...... for you
You leave....... me
So hard to move on
Still loving what's gone
They say life carries on
Carries on and on and on and on

The news that truly shocks
is the empty, empty page
While the final rattle rocks
it's empty, empty cage
and I can't handle this
I grieve....... for you
You leave....... me
Let it out and move on
Missing what's gone
They say life carries on
They say life carries on and on and on

BLUE HIGHWAY -SOME DAY

Some day when my last line is written

Some day when I've drawn my last breath

When my last words on earth have been spoken

And my lips are sealed in death:

Don't look on my cold form in pity

Don't think of me as one dead

It will just be the house I once lived in

My spirit by then will have fled

I'll have finished my time here allotted

But I won't be in darkness alone

I will have heard from heaven

The summons to come on home

And when my body is in the grave

Don't think that I'll be there

I won't be dead, but living

In the place Jesus went to prepare

And after all is said and done

Know that my last earnest prayer

Was that my loved ones be ready

Some day to meet me there

I believe there is an Eternal Life...through Jesus...I just don't have a great passion for being on this planet :)

Graveside minimal service, small gathering of friends afterwards, plus good food, no booze.

Then play the Queen version REALLY Loud!!

:)  Gwen

Who Wants to Live Forever

Words and music by brian may

There’s no time for us
There’s no place for us
What is this thing that builds our dreams yet slips away
From us

Who wants to live forever
Who wants to live forever....?

There’s no chance for us
It’s all decided for us
This world has only one sweet moment set aside for us

Who wants to live forever
Who wants to live forever?

Who dares to love forever?
When love must die

But touch my tears with your lips
Touch my world with your fingertips
And we can have forever
And we can love forever
Forever is our today
Who wants to live forever
Who wants to live forever?
Forever is our today

Who waits forever anyway?

I am going with something less classic, maybe prop me up (beside the jukebox)

or Dixie or Battle Hymn of the republic........

Amazing Grace followed by a good solid no holds barred reformed sermon on why Grace is so amazing and stuffed chock full of gospel truths.

I would like some sermons by CH Spurgeon to be read as well

But then again I would be dead so everyone will probably do the usual family death thing. Shop out the cheapest method , burn me up, put in box, call everyone and tell em I am dead. No time for funeral or service, life goes on. Has been family tradition for as long as I remember. I see no reason to break the tradition. People in my family are hard headed and go to lenghts to not make someone strain or stress.

I would hope my family preserves tradition. but sure wouldnt mind at least Amazing grace and a good sermon.

At one time I thought Johnny's "Ring of Fire" was more appropriate for me but I'm getting better.

I always thought "Burn in Hell" by twisted Sister or "Children of the Damned " by Iron Maiden would be good for me. But thankfully God changed all that.

Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd.

Then I'll be lauched (sporting a flashy costume with cape and all) by a precisely calibrated trebuchet directly in my grave.

What do you think about Christmas lights on my grave marker? Too much?

Really though, Amazing Grace is a powerful song. My dad's sisters were forced to sing it at their great-aunt's funeral at her request. Funny thing, she forgot to ask them beforehand. They weren't so happy about that.

"" If i ever leave this world alive "'
by floggin molly

If I ever leave this world alive
I'll thank for all the things you did in my life
If I ever leave this world alive
I'll come back down and sit beside your
feet tonight
Wherever I am you'll always be
More than just a memory
If I ever leave this world alive

If I ever leave this world alive
I'll take on all the sadness
That I left behind
If I ever leave this world alive
The madness that you feel will soon subside
So in a word don't shed a tear
I'll be here when it all gets weird
If I ever leave this world alive

So when in doubt just call my name
Just before you go insane
If I ever leave this world
Hey I may never leave this world
But if I ever leave this world alive

She says I'm okay; I'm alright,
Though you have gone from my life
You said that it would,
Now everything should be all right

She says I'm okay; I'm alright,
Though you have gone from my life
You said that it would,
Now everything should be all right
Yeah should be alright

I've thought I'd like "How Great Thou Art" sung at my funeral.

That's the way to go out, pointing to Him and His majesty.

Since I want to be cremated and have my ashes dumped out in Lake Superior, I don't really want any ceremony.  My time on earth is up, move along, nothing to see here.

I saw this post awhile ago and have been trying to think of somethink to say.

I got nothing other than to say how sorry I am and I know how it hurts.

Sorry about your wife MDS.

When I was younger I always wanted Electric Funeral by Black Sabbath played at my funeral, but I honestly don't care if there is a funeral or not. I won't know it anyway, and I'm sure it'd be hard for the wife and boy. If something had to be done, I'd like it as Sarge said. Another optionj would be "He is my rock" by Alkesha Brown.

No grave though; Just donate my body to science. Why waste money on a hole in the ground when some young surgeon can learn something that will help others?
