Quoted: Striker should check in soon. While I like the 3rd gen IMO opinion they are the worst of the breed. I love the early 2nd gens and 4th gens the most.

Actually I sort of agree. The 3rd gen years where for the most part the smog motor years. However..it doesn't take much tweaking to make them run. Hot Rod or Car Craft mentioned in a Bonneville article that the 3rd gen is still the prefered body style for the land speed guys due to them being very slippery in stock form.
Here is my 86 IROC.
Mods include
4 bolt main 350, bored 0.10, balanced and blue printed. Holley 750,Weiand intake,Comp Cam roller rockers,Crane cam, Dart iron heads,SLP headers and exhaust and Alston sub-frame connectors.
5 speed tranny with the stock limited slip rear axle.
Future plans include Alston or Hotchkiss rear control arms and panhard bar, polyurethane / graphite bushing kit, Eibach lowered springs, Hurst Billet Pro shifter, FlowMaster American Thunder cat back, Center Force or Hays clutch and stickier tires.
