The shop I run is a more highend shop with some higher end clientale. My shop rate is $75.00 per hour w/ a few items flat rated.
I flat rate basic radio installs at $50.00 not including the kit and harness, this applies to basic work only not custom or "fabricated" installs.
The way I define "custom" to my clients is: If the installation team can do it with hand tools it is not custom. We break out the air tools, or start cutting, metal work, wood work, fiberglass, upholstery then we get custom.
The average in the Seattle/Tacoma area is $50.00 per hour at teh Car Toys, Best Buys, Circuit City etc..... I will not bad mouth any of those shops but the median age of their install pros are 22.
I am 30, my partner is 43, and our next custom guy is 30. The 22 year old in our shop, sweeps the floor.
Fire away, I am here all night......................
