I installed a new 24" monitor for a user that had a 22" he has a laptop that sits on a dock. With the new monitor as soon as windows boots fully. The laptop screen goes to black and white.javascript:insertText('
 '); I'm at a loss and Google has not been forthcoming yet.

is this with the laptop display open or closed?
do you get the same message on the laptop display if its left open? |

What is the operating system? Hunt down the function key that handles the swap between the monitors or look at your display options from control panel. Windows 7 will remember the monitor configuration, whereas XP seems not to remember.
