Gopro audio is shit.
Buy an external mic ( lav mic, shotgun mic, boom mic, etc) and an external recorder and sync the audio later. You'll thank me. Also, depending on which gopro, you may well want to have some lights or do the interview outside (dead cat the mic, if this is the case) 
I'd recommend for easy setup get a lav mic, wire him up, and stick close enough that the mic will pick up you asking the questions and him answering them. Test this first on family/friends/etc before doing it. Make sure your settings are nailed. |
