I have a chance to interview a vet that was in Korea. This guy is 92 YO and sharp as a tack.
Remembers everything. Long story short: I sat down with him to ask if he could tell me anything
about some pictures I have from the time my father served in Korea. We talked for about 2 hours
and he really enjoyed talking. When I asked him about sitting down with a camera he said sure.

I have looked back in my life and regretted not documenting stories told to me by WW2, Korea, and
Vietnam vets that have since passed. I have no experience with interviewing or video recording but
can't pass this opportunity up. I have a go pro and tripod if anyone thinks that would work. Also I am
concerned about audio quality.

Any other suggestions please post or email- Thank you

There is a lot that goes into a full interview setup.

There is a lot out there if you do searches online.

Gopro audio is shit.

Buy an external mic ( lav mic, shotgun mic, boom mic, etc) and an external recorder and sync the audio later. You'll thank me.

Also, depending on which gopro, you may well want to have some lights or do the interview outside (dead cat the mic, if this is the case)

I'd recommend for easy setup get a lav mic, wire him up, and stick close enough that the mic will pick up you asking the questions and him answering them.

Test this first on family/friends/etc before doing it. Make sure your settings are nailed.
