When I shoot portraits, I usually make use of the whole frame and I'm not really concentrating on trying to compose/frame the shot for 1.25:1 ratio format.
My personal binder/portfolio of prints is 8x12". But when I get stuff printed for the models I photograph, I give them 8x10". No one has asked me for 8x12, or any other 1.5:1 ratio format. Pretty much every model I've spoken that has a book/binder/album uses 8x10. |

Wide screen monitors, HD TV's and Iphones are all in a 16 x 9 type format. Kind of makes sense to shoot in that format sometimes, doesn't it?
