Cardio. Start running.

I for one hate running outside so I have a treadmill I do my cardio on. Love it.

I haven't tried it yet but I've heard interval training works really well for cardiovascular fitness.  When you are climbing those hills pick a spot and jog or run to it and then go back to walking until you get your breath back and then sprint again and then walk, etc....
