Go to a running store and get properly fit.

I’ve always worn Asics, usually my go-to is the Gel Kahana. Not too expensive, comfortable, and the fabric is strong enough that my big toe and pinky won’t eventually rip through from the way they move when I run

Need more info. Running style? Distance? Pronation? Supination? Road? Trail? Treadmill?

Brooks are good shoes IMHO.

I like New Balance because most of their shoes come in wide and have a 6mm drop, which I've found to work best for me.

Go get fitted, that's the most important part. Brooks, new balance, asics, and saucony are all very hard to go wrong with. Plus side to Asics is that once you find a model/size you like then you can usually find it much cheaper in their outlet stores which seem to be a lot more plentiful than other brands. Downside is that their employees aren't going to size you as well as other places. New balance is great and if you go to an actual store their people generally really know their stuff when it comes to setting you up.

Personally, if you have any kind of actual running store nearby they will carry all the good brands and most of the legit places will have a treadmill with a camera setup to analyze your gait. Brooks was my favorite overall though but I'm a bigger dude.

Nike Pegasus is a pretty safe bet for most runners but again, you need more info to know for sure.

The Peg 35 is a fantastic running shoe and will be going on sale now that the 36 is out.

I just ordered a custom pair of 36s to try.

I wear  brooks mostly. But you still need to get property fit. Go to a good store like Fleet feet.

Not to be redundant, but yeah get fitted! They can at least tell you whether you pronate, supinate or need a neutral shoe. I personally wear Brooks Ghosts but will be looking for something with a bit more cushion later on down the line. Make sure you go to a running store and not a big box if you can. Prices are usually similar and they actually spend time with you.

A long time ago I was fitted and they sold me on mizuno’s wave rider. I have bought the same model for ever in whatever the update is at the time. I decided late last year to try the Brookes ghost. Supposed to be the same drop, a nuetral shoe, and fit my feet well.  It seems to be much softer than the mizuno and I think was making my joints hurt. I switched back to the mizuno recently. So far so good.

I just purchased a pair of Mizuno Wave Inspire 15 and they are really nice, comfortable running shoes.

I am on my third pair of Brooks Adrenaline GTSs. I've had the 16, 17, and am now on the 19s. I like them for the road and pavement running I do, between 5.5 to 10 miles per run typically though I have worn the 16 and 17s in a half marathon with no trouble.

Go to run on and get fitted.   Expensive but worth it, I did.

I used Brooks for a while, I really liked them.  Someone talked me into Hoka One One's and I haven't looked back.

Hoka One One Clifton

This. Buy whatever feels most comfortable, it will serve you best. You may have to try several different models from several different manufacturers to find it.

Personally, I've been running the last couple years in the Altra Escalante.

Brooks. Go to a good running store. They will analyze your gate and tell you what shoe you NEED vs what you think you need.
