Hello everyone. There seems to be enough interest for a rowing challenge. This is not to take anyone from the other challenges, but just to be something different for those who like to row and can't do the impact of running.
For this challenge, you can rack up the meters however you choose. Rowing/Stand-up Paddleboard, whatever. This is not a running or walking challenge. Use whatever machine to which you have access. If you are doing paddleboarding, specify in your posts. One Million meters is a little over 2700m per day. Those of you who already do this, great, keep racking them up. Those of you who don't, no problem. Do your best and try to push yourself a little bit more everyday. It will work very similar to the running challenge. Each time you row or paddleboard, post it here with the distance for that day and a running total for they year. I am currently using the Concept 2 logbook (sign up for a free account here: Concept 2 Logbook) and using ErgData on my phone from the Google Play store (ErgData). These programs work for IOS and Android. Using ErgData, you can simply sync the meters to the Concept 2 LogBook and the Logbook will keep a running total. One caveat: Concept 2 runs their rowing season from May 1st-April 30. It is not a standard calendar year, so be aware. If you have to do it manually, no problem. If you want to post Logbook training IDs, great, there is no requirement for this. Your rowing, your meters. Concept 2 also has their own challenges on the logbook site you can be a part of. There seems to be a Team already created called ARFCOM ERGERS. If you want to go with that, no problem, if not, I can create a different team. Remember to stay hydrated and don't be afraid to break up the meters. Every once in a while, I have to get up and stretch out. That's pretty much it. Row your meters, log your meters. Any questions, please ask. I have used the C2 Log book and ErgData for 2 months and have logged almost 400k meters. We start on 1/1/19 and end 12/31/19. |

Benefit of working from home........got in a quick row before eating lunch since I didn't make it out for a run at dawn.

Yeah man! I worked a bunch of overtime right before christmas and I decided to order one from Rogue fitness. So far I’m pretty impressed. I’ve been running since last May and biking since August; I can definitely tell that the Concept 2 engages a different part of my legs.

Quoted: I have noticed my hip flexors getting stronger. When I started I couldn't go 1k without them, and my lower core, getting sore. Now, I am up to 10k straight before I really start to feel it. I like how rowing engages so much more from head to toe. View Quote |

Is this thread ok for discussion as well as logging meters?
I’m curious to know what pace/rate everyone is rowing at and what a 20,000 meter workout (workouts?) looks like. |

View Quote I have done a few 20k+ workouts. Yesterday was 20k and every 2500m was 20 push-ups and 20 sit-ups, water and back on the rower for another 2500m. So, 20k on the rower and 160 push-ups and 160 sit-ups. It's a long workout, I know. Took me 1:40 to get it all done. I try to keep a 2:05-2:10 pace with long strokes and 31-32 strokes per minute. After that was a 5mi ruck with 82# dry weight and a 3L hydration pack. I was smoked, but felt great in the afternoon. |

I think once I get the cadence down without having to think so much about stroke rate and pace I’m going to have to start watching tv while I row to keep from watching the timer or meters; get my mind off it a bit on longer workouts. |

Wow. I didn’t think about breaking it up like that. I was thinking you did something like 10k in the morning then 10k in the evening. 30 minutes straight at 22-24 strokes/minute and 2:13/500m was about all I could handle last night. View Quote My condition is actually worse than I thought (which I didn't think was possible) and I've had to back off. My last long day I did 2000 x 2000 x 1000 and I was wiped out for several days. I also had some minor "tweaks" in various parts of my body, probably from my form breaking down due to fatigue. I started out doing just 500 m rows and the best I can do is a 2:00 time. I did 3 x 500 yesterday and got 2:15, 2:08 and 2:06. My 1000 m rows dropped my pace to about 2:40 and my two 2000 m rows were 2:46 and 2:48. |

I'm still trying to wrap my head around other people's numbers. All of my rows with a 2:05-2:10 pace end up with a SR of 19-22. I don't think I could move my body fast enough to get a 31-32 SR. All of my longer rows (>1000 m) have been a drag factor of 88, which is probably a 1 or 2. My best times (500m) have been 6 or 7. View Quote ETA- 1/11: 20000/104000 |

Alright, 1M meters is probably outside my range, but maybe this thread will give me a little more accounability. I'm as weak as corn syrup.
