Would a brace of 1860 Army replicas be viable?
I'm not really talking big match competitive, but enough to complete a match.
Thanks.

Yes.

I liked mine, but I made the mistake of buying a brass-framed one. (Colt open-top type)

Cleaning it by boiling got a bit tiresome, and fired caps have an uncanny ability to end up in the slot the hammer falls into, and gumming up the works.

Use real black powder, not that fake shit.

I have a 1861 Navy cut down (5.5" bbl), so I'm somewhat familiar with the design, and I saw a pair of steel frame repro 1860s at a local shop for $160/ea on the 11th. Got me to wondering.

Does each 1860 Army revolver start with only 5 chambers of the cylinder loaded?

Yes and matches are set up for 5 shots in any pistol platform.
