| Where do you guys place your rifle in a vehicle for quick access from the driver seat. I've been kind of wedging it between the seat and console, but it tends to move out of place. How would you engage from the seat? Leaving the vehicle? Are there any gun mounts for this? |
| Between me and the door in a high threat environment so its ready to come up as soon as the door is unbuttoned. Never put a body part where you haven't put eyes and a muzzle first. Low threat environment- it's staged by the door post (by the rear of the seat), muzzle down, so I can get it upon exiting the vehicle if needed or once I'm outside the vehicle while moving to cover. As far as shooting, SBRs make this a much easier solution. If I am a driver though, I'm not shooting. Drivers drive-shooters shoot. If you're expecting to need a rifle, then you shouldn't be there by yourself. |

There are many types of locking gun mounts to consider. Roof mount, floor mount, vertical mount.
At work, I have a 10.5" Colt Commando and a Rem 870 side by side between the front seats (2008 Ford SUV). As stated above, the short barrel makes it a dream to maneuver inside the vehicle. I've run many hot calls with that Colt ready to go upon arrival due to the short compact size. You can look up some mounts and get ideas here... Big Sky |
| If you need to bail out, then your gun is the last thing exiting the vehicle rather than the 1st. I know someone's thinking "driver side, right handed, gun goes into right shoulder..." Steering wheels screw that concept up. Eyes + muzzle - body. In that order. Most have found keeping the long gun by the door is the most efficient and effective. |
