how do you do your malf clearing drills?
does any one use training mags? the plastic dummy ones - not real mags that are loaded with snapcaps. how can you simulate a type 3 without using snapcaps? |
| i use regular mags and both resized cases, for a fail to extract and resized cases with a bullet in them for a fail to fire sim. i also do drills while firing, i have whoever is with me put a couple of the dummy rounds in some my mags of live and do the sims so you dont know when its gonna happen |

how can you simulate a type 3 without using snapcaps? Take the internals out a mag (spring and follower). Lock the bolt to the rear, with assembled but unloaded mag in weapon Point in Press Trigger Dead Trigger (could be type 2 or type 3) then there are 2 options to fix it: 1) Tap (or push & pull mag if rifle) rack flip, bang (no bang in this case as the slide/bolt will not go into battery); you just cleared a type 1 and 2, then clear your type 3. or 2) Look at the weapon to decide if it is a type 2 or 3, then clear the type 3. VISUALIZE the brass being there. Use the "gutted" mag to insert at the end of clearing the type 3 this way your slide/bolt will go into battery, and you finish off they way you wish (Bang [in this case a loud click of a dry press] or Evaluate the situation [Shoot/Don't Shoot]). edit: spelling |
