I am slowly working on getting all the gear for NRA high power competition. Can people please share what shooting mats they use?

I use a midway mat.

It has 3 seasons in it now and is still working fine.

4'x12' roll of plush carpet remnants from lowes for $16 gave me two mats. Hey, I'm cheap.

I use the Dillon.  I like it a lot better than my old one, Creedmore?  I usually shoot off concrete and the rubber in the Dillon pads better for me.

When I first started shooting HP with a buddy, one of the old timers walked by us and sneered at our hunks of carpet: "Completely inadequate."  My buddy quit shooting HP.  I kept at it and would either upgrade or get a new piece of equipment every year (usually Christmas).  I wish my shooting would improve as much as my equipment has.

I don't know of a bad one so far.

Even the guys who throw down the carpet remnants are doing just fine. It is probably one of the most trouble free parts of the kit. All of them can get soaked on a snowy or rainy line.

Catch anything you can on sale, shoot more, worry less.

I liked the Midway mat like the one shown above until I bought a shooting coat.  It only took a few matches, but the rubber elbow pads on the coat grip the rubber on the mat, and tears the seams since they are not sewn very heavy-duty, and then your elbows slide a bit.  Other than that, it held up pretty good.

A mat from Champion's Choice or Creedmoor (like the one shown in the second post) might be my purchase at Perry this year.

Midway mat works great for me

I used a Dillon mat for my first 5 years or so and it worked fine.  Eventually, the rubber started getting pretty shiny and slick so I replaced it last year with the top-of-the-line Creedmoor with all of the upgrades.  It was expensive, but man is it nice.  The rubber is sticky, the bottom is waterproof and the extra padding and knee rubber really is great.  I've used it for about 35 days of shooting so far and it is no worse for wear, apart from being slightly dirty.  I'll buy another one when this one wears out.

Good luck,
Erik

One caveat on using a cheaper improvised item (yoga mat, sleeping roll...) is to know what width you need.  The reason I purchased a Creedmoor mat was that my sleeping roll would not let me protect both elbows from the pavement.

The Creedmoor is fine by the way, I don't have want of anything more.

My mom knew I needed a mat so she made one for me. It's not as nice as some of the production mats, but mom made it, so I am using it.

Sir, Champion Shooter Supply in New Albany, Ohio sells one of the best mats on the market IMHO.  I've seen all the others in use at various matches including the Nationals, the Css version is the best, just my humble opinion.

The first one I had the rubber pad at the upper end eventually cracked and tore.  I took it to them on commercial row at Camp Perry and they replaced it and sent it back to me in about a month.  Meantime I bought another to use in the interim.  I'm still using it and it's holding up well after six years of regular use.  I use the older one occasionally because my son never took an interest in highpower competition.  The mat in question is their deluxe shooting mat with the side wedge flaps on the lower sides.  HTH, 7zero1.

Sir, although Champion's Choice is a perennial fixture on commercial row during the National Matches the same is not true for Creedmoor Sports.  They have shared space with other vendors in years past but not recently IIRC.  And although, as has been pointed out, Champion Shooters Supply has relocated to Utica, Ohio, they too have been an annual presence on commercial row during the National Matches.  Regardless, you should be able to find a shooting mat that suits both your needs and your budget while at Camp Perry, just I wouldn't bet Creedmoor Sports will be there.  7zero1 out.
