I'm looking to purchase a Creedmoor Jacket and I can't decide between the Lite Cordura or the Hardback Cordura.  I shoot in about 7 local matches a year.  Is it worth the $75.00 extra for the hardback, will I notice a increase in my score, how much warmer will it be?

Is there anything else I should know before ordering?  Why does it seem like everyone buys the light blue and silver?

Thanks for your help.

IMHO....I spent the extra money and got the hardback and never regretted it. Really helps my lower back. Remember with the purchase of gear...  buy once, cry once...

Don't know if it's worth the extra $ or not but they provide more support.
The silver back and lighter colors don't absorb as much heat.  If I were ordering I'd see about getting a desert with a silver back.
Either way they will be hot

Get the Hardback, ventilation and all position options too.  All well worth the money.

Get any color that makes you happy, they are all hot!  But I stay with lighter colors on the back, can't hurt.

Dave

Hardback, you will regret getting the basic coat.  Spend the extra and be a happier better scoring shooter.

Most wear a sweatshirt underneath anyways so don't worry about the "heat" they all are hot

What is nice is when you take it off in between round and if the wind is blowing you get a chill effect.

The "Lite" isn't the basic coat.

Even more delightful is after the match when you find that little out-of-the-way spot where you can strip off ALL the sweat-soaked clothes, and put on some dry duds for the drive home.

What Dave said.  Get the options, and go with a light color.  You'll still sweat buckets.

Hardback for sure.  Mine's a dark brown front & sleeves, tan back.  In retrospect, I wonder why I've never seen an all tan coat, or all silver...

I also wonder how much sweat gets absorbed by the coat.  I'll have to weigh it before & after one of these matches.

My vote is for the hardback.  Dave was right on.  Get it with the optional vents and zippers.  I have had to borrow the jackets so far, and there is a small but not insignificant difference in the amount of support that the hardback gives you.  The hardback isn't actually hard, it is just a little stiffer and will provide you more support in the offhand shooting.  With the vents and zippers you can keep relatively comfortable in offhand and transitioning to sitting.

If you are cleaning the target everytime in offhand, though, you could easily save your money and go with the regular cordura.  The hardback is meant for offhand and doesn't effect sitting/prone.

As far as color, the blue/silver is one of the "off the shelf" color schemes, which is one reason that a lot of people have them.  It really doesn't make a difference (that I have noticed) other than your personal taste and how much the color you pick shows dirt, etc.   I only know that because I was recenlty in California and stopped by Creedmoor to get fitted for a jacket.  Call them up, they can help you more with what you need.
