I have a DPMS stainless steel 20" 1:8 twist barrel with a set-screw locked FSB. From some past reading, my understanding is that this front sight is windage adjustable? Can someone explain how this is?

Also, I have a RRA free float tube coming in the mail that I'll be installing over the barrel (outer appearance of a standard GI rifle). I believe I would need to remove the FSB to slide the tube on. How would I re-attach the FSB and know it is in the correct position?

I have a feeling these are some pretty bad questions, but I have not yet tried to mess with the FSB yet since it was zero'd from the factory.

Thanks.

There should be a couple of flats milled in the barrel for the set screws to bear against.  When you put the FSB back on, you'll be able to adjust it back to center with the set screws.

You might want to scribe witness lines on the FSB and barrel to make reindexing easier. When reinstalled, just match up the lines.

Set rear sight at mechanical zero windage.  Set front post a mechanical zero as well.  Fire some rounds, clean, break in or what ever your habit is.
Adjust ONLY the set screws until all rounds are centered (Vertical).  This is best done at something other than 25 yards.
After that remove one screw at a time and locktite each.  Verify zero cant, let dry 24 hrs. done.  Adj. sights as needed.

Do all this after NM tube has been installed.  Most take three hands or at least a strap wrench as a third
