Went to my first match sat. down by Richmond, wow I think im hooked.
I'd been practicing the positions and dry fireing so I wasnt too lost. I borrowed a shooting jacket from a freind of a friend who shot lefty, super glue and mouse pads later it works for a righty as well. Wasnt prepared for the single loading on the standing and slow prone but quick use of my bullet box and things worked out.
It wasnt a full course match, just 100 yards using reduced targets so I didnt have to guess with the wind, which is probly why I scored as high as I did, wind would have killed me.
My score was 727 with only 8x, that will improve with practice. The best thing was getting in touch with some real shooters who know something about the sport, and opening some doors with some junior level teams. Cant wait till I go do it again, hopefully full course at Quantico next time they practice |

Good shooting. That's a darn good score to start. I think there's an across the course match at Quantico on the 21st (that saturday). Starting in April or so, the VA rifle team will start Saturday and Sunday practices pretty much every weekend. There are two groups running XTC matches at quantico, the schedule for one of them is here: VFEMI match schedule I'm not sure where to point you for the other, but I believe their matches start the 21st.
If you want more information, please feel free to PM me and I'll send you more information, or get you in touch with the guys who run our practices. NateG |
