I have a RRA 20" Standard A2 with floated barrel.  With the original sights, off a solid rest, on a good day I can put put 5 shots of match ammo into about an inch at 100 yards.  I normally don't shoot past 200 yards as that is the limit of my shooting range.

I have other RRAs with the same barrel and which have optics that shoot condiderably better so I am sure the limitation there is my eye sight, not the gun.  I will be 43 in a couple days if that matters, and I don't wear glasses though I don't focus up close to well anymore.  Other than close focus, I don't have any eye issues that I am aware of.

I don't shoot matches but I figured you guys would be the ones to ask....

I am thinking about the sights below and was hoping for some input before spending the money.

Are they likely to allow a measurable improvement in group size?  Any reason I wouldn't want them or may prefer something else?  Thoughts on which aperature size to select?

The different size posts and apertures of the NM sights will shrink groups a little, but proper sight alinement as well as consistant stock placement will have a more dramatic effect on shrniking the group.  The biggest gain in NM sights is the finer adjustment to give a good zero.  Get the 1/4 x 1/4 minute version.  Try the .040 rear or larger since you are in your 40's.  Front post widths are more of a personal preference.

If you use a hooded rear, you can get a "helper" lens to put in it.  It really sharpens the front post on my Garand, and it is competition legal.

Need to get one for my AR.  I think Bob Jones was the maker. (I am 55 and had lasik, so my close vision is gone)
